As I continue the search for a good online docotrate to suppliment my social work license I have come across keiser university's phd in psych...any feedback guys?
Well, it's expensive and not APA accredited. What are your goals that you think you need to earn a doctorate, and what are your criteria such that you're considering this one?
Yeah wow it is expensive..I'm looking for a doctorate for a marketing edge. Plus all my clients call me dr. and I always have to correct them that I am not a dr. so not having to do that would make life much easier...I am looking for any doctorate in a simiar field.
Have you looked at online DSWs? If you live in a member state of the Southern Regional Education Board, then you might qualify for in-state tuition at University of Tennessee. Doctor of Social Work | The University of Tennessee, Knoxville
Keiser University makes it almost impossible to figure out how much their graduate-level tuition is per credit, which means the cost is outrageous. Stay away! The per-credit-hour charge for part-time undergraduate students at Keiser University at Ft Lauderdale in 2013-2014 was $642 (or over $1900 for one 3-credit undergraduate class). Does anyone know what Keiser University charges for graduate level credits?
I had to use Google to search Keiser's website. They charge by the semester instead of by credit or course. In Fall 2013, their doctoral programs were $10,253 per semester. http://www.keiseruniversity.edu/wp-content/uploads/2013/06/KU-Tuition-and-Fees-Graduate-School.pdf
any other suggestions guys? I'm not so into the out of country idea and the tenesse dsw has a residency...i have no time to travel
Well, a few months ago you asked about the PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Louisiana at Monroe. What about that one?
That's the frontrunner right now...it's just that the courses don't totaly appeal to me...ill prob end up sucking it up and going for it though
Based on your goals does the degree need to be regionally accredited or will nationally accredited do as well? California Southern University has a PsyD that is reasonable (20,000 ish) and qualifies for Clinical Psych licensure in California. They are in the RA process (no guarantee).
Calsouthern's program looks great and I really considered it, however my issue with it is using PsyD after my name as a social worker. PhD does not necessarily mean psychologist but PsyD is a pretty big implication that I'm a psychologist
What about California Coast's Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology. Looks like at 290 per unit it comes in even less expensive than CalSouthern even with a couple of additional levelling classes if needed.
Ed.D. - Doctor of Education in Educational Psychology | Online Degree Programs - California Coast University
That looks interesting. Although educational psychology is a far cry from what I practice...On the other hand it is a doctorate in a similar disciple and edd does not imply psychogist..I will definitely add this to the list..Thanks!
Nothing so exciting. That program at ULM comes up from time to time so I went looking for previous threads about it, then saw that the same guy had posted about it.
