Apologies for the downtime!

Hi, folks.

I'd like to apologize for the downtime. We had a major DNS issue last night that prevented the site from routing correctly. (DNS is the "phonebook" that translates a domain name into an IP address that servers and browsers can understand.)

The issue is resolved now and we don't expect any future concerns.

Again, my apologies.

 

I think we had a few people check into rehab due to withdrawal symptoms.:grouphug:

 

Thank you, Chip, for getting DegreeInfo back up and operative. You would not believe the conspiracy theories that were floating around. At one point, we really thought that degree mill advocates had formed a coalition and sent mercenaries to take you out.

 

I can't pull up degreeinfo on google. I can access it on bing though.

 

There were some initial indications that the Order of Christ was involved but, let's face it, they rarely act outside of the Iberian Peninsula these days. My contacts are now pointing toward Cicada 3301 although no one has come forward to take responsibility.

Yes, yes, that's exactly it. It's a little known fact that in the DegreeInfo data center, there's a bust of Richard Nixon that sits on a pedestal. There was some vibration in the data center due to some hard drives that were running just slightly out of sync, and the vibration moved the Nixon bust to the edge of the pedestal, where it eventually fell off, hitting the DNS server for DegreeInfo, causing a disk crash that took the server completely down.

Yes, that's exactly what happened, so clearly it was Nixon's fault.
