This is so disappointing. How many people in India are going to remain in poverty because of this silliness?

How many bells in a fortnight?

This is not about poverty. This is about innovating in education. Not every one in India lives below poverty line.

Of course, it is about innovation. However, there are millions of people in poverty in India who will remain in poverty because of the lack of access to education. There are thousands of people from my birth country many of whom are of Indian (India) descent who are living in poverty because of the lack of access to education. It just happened that the motherland has millions of people living in poverty. It is a fact - no need for political correctness.

There are 672 bells in a fortnight. (Fortnight=14 days. Eight bells per 4-hr watch, one every 30 min. So, 48 bells per 24-hr day. 48x14=672)

You were right. It should be 3,046 bells. The bells are sounded every 1/2 hour, but from 1 to 8 dings per, depending. I've reworked it. 3046 bells: Basically, 36 dings per watch (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8) x 6 (watches) x 14 (days).

I can't make that claim. And I think the British system is different and don't know what Canada uses.

Arr, matey -- the difference is in the dog-watch that's split up into two 2-hour watches, so everyone gets supper, etc. On British ships, since 1797, there's no 5-bell sounding in this watch -so as not to remind anyone of the Great Mutiny of that year. Here's how they handle it (a) the regular way and (b) on British ships - and probably lots of places in the Commonwealth, too. Tell Time Like A Sailor

I think my count is OK for American ships. Minor variation for British & probably Commonwealth ships. For them, reduce the total for one watch each day (dog-watch) from 36 to 24. Losing 12 bells a day makes the total 3046 - 168 or 2878.

Yes - Canadian Navy observes the "no 5-bell on Dogwatch" rule. I looked it up.

The UGC must be on to something concerning the quality of distance education in India. I have in the past been hard on the UGC. My heart goes out to those students who studied in good faith.
About Kizmet, I hope she says something soon.

In my frank opinion, UGC is a bunch of retards who doesn't know the meaning of "Progress". They are just control freaks who want to control everything.

So the best way to kill a well-performing and one of the oldest DL departments, is to play the accreditation trump card? God save my country!!
