As usual - advance with caution:

    Jaipur National University
Established by State Government of Rajasthan, Approved by UGC & member of AIU ~ RA in USA. All course materials, assignments and exams are 100% online. They mentioned "NRI & Foreign Students" in their fee section, so I assume they admit foreign nationals too.

Jaipur National University Online Education | Online MBA courses India

    Programs offered:
    - MBA (with various specializations) - ~$2,500 (for entire program)
    - MBA + PGDM - ~$3,200 (for entire program)
    - BBA, BCOM, BSc (CS) & BSc (IT) - ~$3,200 (for entire program)

Please note that the bachelor degrees in India (with the exception of some, like Engineering, Medicin, Law etc) are 3-year degrees unlike in the USA. However, they can be evaluated as equivalent to a 4-year US degree in some cases:

This is really good deal for the price. I just spoke with an online representative too. Why didn't I know about this before now. :)

I don't know...there appears to be another web site for the same school, with a slightly different web address, different contact info and more stringent entry requirements for the MBA programs. There also aren't as many MBA specializations listed here. I wonder if the site in the original post isn't some kind of copycat scam site designed to capitalize off the school's name? Thanks for bringing this to notice. Yesterday evening, I did chat with one of their online customer care representatives who even gave me a follow-up call this morning. It seems to me that the university's onine programs (as well as MIT Busines School's) are "contracted" to About uts | Universal Training Solutions | Online Education | Distance Education | Correspondence Education I have no fact to support this, just a little digging up...

I found the same thing. I chatted online with one of their reps after my post, and they explained that the school contracted with a distance education provider called UTS to administer their online degree programs. They have the option of getting a BA/MBA for $4,400 or an MBA for about $2,600. They emailed me some info stating the programs include the cost of books, and some students also get a tablet computer.

The rep seemed very insistent about getting my info and educational background and having me apply right away (although no more so than for-profit schools here in the US), although I told him I just had a few questions for now. I told him I lived in the USA, and that didn't seem to be a barrier to entering the program. After I did a little digging, they do seem to be connected with the school.

Yes...UTS will be administering the program for Jaipur National University. They are more like courseware/infrastructure providers, just like Blackboard in USA. The final degree will be awarded by Jaipur U.

I found another similar school today. People may explore. Cost seems to be in the same range as Jaipur. They have more programs though.

Congratulations to India. In the age of globalisation, it is good to see global competition. Students worldwide will be the beneficiaries. I just wish there was a broader array of programmes.

Msganti, would you say that a bachelor's degree from India is seen as equivalent of a US bachelor's? What is the likely outcome for one who takes a 3 year degree at Amity and decides to pursue a US masters ?

As per the (see link in my original post), a 3-year degree from India can be considered as equivalent of a US bachelor's degree if:
Again, it's at the discretion of the receiving school. One may have to do some additional credits to fill any missing gaps.

Amity used to be problematic, didn't it, Msganti? I believe it suffered permanent withdrawal of approval by AICTE and at one point, withdrawal of UGC approval, which was later restored. In Amity's defense, some say AICTE wasn't too squeaky-clean, itself, back then.

Here's the Wiki mentioning the problems:

Amity University - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Here's some info on the troubles from Amity's own page:

Amity University : Campus News : Students, Teachers, Education, Study, Schools, Colleges & University News : CAMPUS DUNIYA

Here's an old article written during the time of troubles:

Controversies dog Amity but students keep streaming in - Livemint

Anyway, things may have changed - I hope. I note Boris Johnson, Mayor of London has toured an Amity campus recently.

Mayor of London, Mr. Boris Johnson invites Amity to start its University Campus in London Details

Msganti, you're our best authority. Do you think it's OK to forget these past problems and enrol at Amity now?

It looks as though India might be the new South Africa, in the field of distance education. And I say that as a compliment to both countries.

It looks India is going a bit further and removing the red tape to enrolment. Education for the masses. If few more countries/universities start offering more products that could be the ultimate nail in the coffin of MOOC.

I thought under agreement from the UGC that private universities are not allowed to offer any courses off campus, notably distance learning.
