Does anyone know the learning platform Northcentral uses?? EDIT: In my chat with them, they said their platform was "our own proprietary system." Anyone have any direct experience with them?
I actually don't remember what they were using three years ago, other than that it wasn't Moodle. But not remembering suggests that it wasn't much different from any of the other learning management systems out there.
It's not Moodle or Blackboard. They have their own platform that is unique to them. It has a place for the syllabus, the instructions and a place to upload work. They don't have discussion boards (or they didn't when I was there).
When I was there the platform was very simply, they were charging a technology fee at the time, but I did not see the fee to be justifiable to the simplistic nature of the platform.
The same argument can be made against American Military University. They charge a 50 or hundred dollar technology fee for every class to provide a very simple platform. Extremely simple. It is what it is.
Okay, at least that's nothing terrible. I've been a student on Angel these past couple years and OH MY GOSH that's a definite "con" on my pros/cons tally sheet. I've used enough various platforms now that I've decided if I have to think about the system, it's already taking too much of my brainspace away from learning.
