    TEKMAN Semper Fi!

I could not recall, but I think the cheapest is Aspen University's Doctorates.

Yeah, Johann already knows. And what follows has nothing to do with SLBC. - just a general caveat about "free" religious schools.

    http://www.degreeinfo.com/accreditation-discussions-ra-detc-state-approval-unaccredited-schools/46044-northwestern-theological-seminary-less-than-faithful.html

Appears that school existed on "love offerings." The mimimum "love offering" for a "doctorate" was somewhere over $2,000 IIRC. And they didn't always deliver, it would seem, from the complaints.

    Shameful!

Thanks, but I have to get back to dealing with that issue of mine. See you in the Spring, maybe. Bye!

If a DETC-accredited school will suffice -- and I'm not looking for an argument - there's W.H. Taft U. That school offers an Ed.D. or a DBA at basically the same price. Tuition is monthly - $420 - and if you can complete the degree in the minimum allowed (27 months) it's a steal - IF, as I said, DETC works for you.

Done in 27 months, it works out to $11,320 in tuition and about another $1,000 in fees, mostly dissertation-related.

(If it takes you 48 months - it's not such a bargain. Tuition of $41,160 plus fees - $42k + in total.)

Holy cow! A speed-doctorate! That almost sounds like something from "Breaking Bad." http://www.taft.edu

BTW - that minimum from Taft, $11,000+ is not much more than half Aspen U.'s fee -though Aspen charges by the credit-hour and with them, you don't have to cram your whole Doctoral experience into 27 super-compressed months!

Aspen U., mentioned by TEKMAN earlier, is another DETC school - and one I respect. One of the founders of its predecessor school (ISIM U.) is someone I look up to - Michael Milken. That said, a lot has happened to Aspen's tuition. A few years ago, for a while, a Doctorate could be earned there for about $7,000 in tuition. Now it's about $20,000. Oh, well...

Oops. My Bad. Big math error! Doubled by mistake. If you complete the Taft degree in 48 months it should costs around $22,000 including fees.

The regionally accredited Valdosta State University comfortably beats out those two DETC schools. The only thing is that you have to spend money on traveling to the campus.

Apollos (DETC) is just about $13,000 (DBA)
Tennessee Temple (TRACS) is about $18,000 (PhD)
Johnson University (RA) is about $24,000 (PhD)

Yes - if you consider that the Taft or Aspen degrees, both non-RA, cost $20,000 or so if done in a reasonable time frame. I couldn't find exact details on the site in a hurry, but I'm assuming around 60 credit-hours of study at your stated $285 per, Sanantone. That's just over $17,000. I wouldn't doubt there are some dissertation-related fees that could increase that a bit - but it still appears to be great value for an RA doctorate.

However, the Ed.D. programs do not show as online degrees in the University's website, although quite a few other non-doctoral graduate degrees are available online from Valdosta State. So - if we're looking for the "cheapest online doctorate" as the enquiry states - unfortunately, I don't think this one fits the category, despite its high value.

The Doctor of Public Administration, which has been talked about a lot on this forum, is online. At least one of the members here completed it. It is 54 credit hours and allows up to 15 transfer credits as long as they are at the graduate level and weren't used for a previous degree. Their Ed.D in Leadership is also online.

Just click on the "Doctoral Degrees" bubble.

Not the cheapest, but reasonable. I've known people who have liked their experiences here, including one grad who returned to earn his doctorate. California Coast University (DETC) has three Ed.D distance programs - Ed. Psych, Administration and Leadership - around 62 credits at $290 per hour, so about $18,000. I don't know if there's any provision for grad. credits earned elsewhere, as Valdosta State U. offers.
