Yes. Corruption is much the same wherever it occurs. However, two differences in OSUA case:

    (1) Liberian degrees were mostly a case of Americans selling to other Americans. US fraudsters claimed Liberian accreditation etc.

    (2) The money for OSUA degrees is from Nigerians -- paid to a US-domiciled "school" set up by their Chief.

Johann, the problem is- most Nigerians, myself included, were/ are not aware about the types of accreditation in the US. It took me about 2 years after leaving Africa to understand that there are two major accreditation agencies in the US- National and Regional. Also, there is a general belief among most Africans that anything (not only education) ''made in USA'' or the west is genuine. This perhaps is another reason why many fall for such scam as OSUA. It pains the heart to see an Ile-Ife chief fleecing on poor Nigerians while he smiles away to the bank.

It does indeed, Saharapost. And I understood completely from the outset how the subterfuge works. This rascal capitalizes on:

    (1) His position of power, privilege and authority
    (2) The respect and obedience his genealogy gets him
    (3) His people not knowing anything (but what he tells them) about U.S. schools or their accreditation.

His own people! Again, shame on him!

And who or what is Atlanta Metropolitan State College? I've never heard of them.

I'd never heard of it either, but obviously Atlanta Metropolitan State College is a SACS-accredited "real" school. This affiliation certainly lends credence to Gossyomega's post - although I perceived it to be genuine in the first place.. I'm glad to hear of another honest attempt to promulgate higher education in Nigeria. Certainly helps to show this sorry OSUA nonentity and its leader in the bad light they both deserve.

BTW Maniac - that AutoGoogle routine was cool! You the man!

I would like to know the school(s) where Dr. Adedoyin earned his doctoral degrees. Without spending much time looking it seemed to me that he earned the degrees from the schools he started. This always make me say:hmmm:

As I pointed out earlier, that is a completely unrecognized so-called "accreditor" that is in no way connected with the real North Central Association, here:

Here's the best answer I could come up with, Kizmet.

According to this blog, Dr. Adedoyin earned his Master's and Doctorate in Mathematics and Education at All Saints University of America, New York:

IFE OOYE: PROFILE: CHIEF DR R.A ADEDOYIN (MAYE OF IFE) No website, but some info on that school here:

Nonprofit Report for ALL SAINTS UNIVERSITY OF AMERICA INC

This school is reported closed, elsewhere. It is/was a religious (Pentecostal) institution, and I could find no details re: accreditation. A couple of sources stated it was unaccredited. In fact, it was incorporated as a Church. The info above says it was tax-exempt for this very reason. So how could it award degrees in secular fields? I'd like to know.

Well, it seems to follow an old mill pattern; create the facade of a school, award degrees to yourself and a few thousand close, personal friends and then parlay the whole thing into a large bank account based in some cute little island nation somewhere (Switzerland is sooo passe).
