Sindona died in 1986. Considering the havoc he wrought with the primitive tools of the time, I've often wondered what truly catastrophic things could have happened, had he lived into the heyday of derivatives, financial engineering, Internet, DarkWeb and cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin.

In jail, Sindona was asked if he thought an operation like his could be started from scratch again and his eyes lit up. He said yes, all he'd need to start is $1,000 and a Telex! What he could have done with a laptop and wi-fi!

Well, if that stuff didn't happen without him then it probably wouldn't have happened with him. Or maybe it did happen.

It didn't take long after technical advancements for really bad things to happen, e.g. Long Term Capital Management crash in late 90s. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Long-Term_Capital_Management. Two Nobel Prize winners, including a professor at my home town University helped author that disaster! Also, "rogue trading" disasters (e.g. Nick Leeson) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nick_Leeson

My point: If Sindona had had access to more modern tools, he could have wreaked damage far more spectacular than he accomplished without them. These days, even "good" guys manage to screw up irretrievably. A hedge fund sneezes and a nation has to bail it out! I've always been interested in financial shenanigans beyond my pay grade. Just the thought of all that money...

And we have George Soros, who decries derivatives as "the crack cocaine of finance" - and I would largely agree with that definition. Yet his organization uses them...

In 1963 I worked in the trust section of a bank. A bank taken over by Franklin National Bank after I'd left. My boss told me that the best bankers were in Brazil, the punch line being that we had no extradition treaty with Brazil.

    I LOVE it!!

Just for laughs, I read recently that the only jurisdictions left with complete banking secrecy are Myanmar/Burma and Nigeria. I was surprised to learn that Nauru and Vanuatu were no longer on the list - all the money-launderers have been kicked out, apparently. Hmm - Myanmar ... Nigeria. Don't think I want to deal with either. ...Maybe I should give Pyongyang a call.

Na condition wey make crayfish bend. (Nigeria).

There was/is a cable show on this subject and I watched a bit of it lately. The show was saying that Hitler escaped by plane to Denmark and then to South America by U-boat. The evidence they produced, if genuine, was rather compelling. I forget the name of the show but it was some multi-episode documentary. In any case . . .

CIA informant claimed Hitler survived WWII - Unexplained Mysteries

People who visit Dealey Plaza tend to ditch their conspiracy thoughts. They say the plaza is small, the grassy knoll is small and that Oswald didn't have as difficult a shot as they'd thought.
