One book I would recommend that I finished a few months ago: Who Moved My Cheese? By Dr. Spencer Johnson. This is a great book for management types dealing with organizational change, its affects on subordinate employees and how to move past it.

I think I'm going to try reading Killing Kennedy and Killing Jesus after I finish Powell Clayton's The Aftermath of the Civil War in Arkansas.

Well how could you ever resist the temptation to read a book with such an awesome title?! It's now on my list for that reason alone.

As a retired military officer, I've read quite a few of these "leadership" books. This one is the same, only worse. They're atheoretical, built around some sexy metaphor or framework not normally applied in business (and, thus, inappropriate), and filled with early-stage (see Kegan, Loevinger, and Cook-Greuter) thinking that, while sometimes good in tactical situations, leaves a lot to be desired when managing strategically. Having developed leaders at the worker, supervisor, manager, and executive levels, I'd leave this one to some fun reading for early supervisors. I wouldn't want my executives thinking and acting like that.

None of that has anything to do with how cool the title is :AR15firing:

Just finished reading Powell Clayton's The Aftermath of the Civil War in Arkansas. So I have finished reading 3 out of 10 books on the Civil War and Reconstruction in Arkansas.

I find his other books entertaining so I figured I'd give his business/ leadership books a shot. I'm a firm believer that you can learn someone from everyone . . . even if its what not to do, lol.
