    That's funny! The name changes were from great to well..... not so great.
    The University of the State of New York to let's make it sound not so official like Regents College to I think that's still too impressive, how about Excelsior?

    Ok dokey!

    They had no choice--when it became private, the USNY gave them 3 years as "Regents College," after which they'd have to re-name it. They decided upon "Excelsior," which is the state motto. ("Ever upward.") Hey, it could have been "Farragut." (Trekkers note.)

    My B.S. diploma says, "The University of the State of New York". I don't believe I will ask for a new one with Excelsior on it! I just wiped the dust off and saw my High School diploma also says, "The University of the State of New York". Oddly, I remember in High school having to take "Regents" exams.

    Anyway, Live long and prosper!

    From the Columbiana site:

    "The Terms of service and the relationship between you and Columbiana University shall be governed by the laws of the British Virgin Islands without regard to its conflict of law provisions. You and Columbiana University agree to submit to the personal and exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the British Virgin Islands"

    That's all we need to know. The only legit. University in BVI is University of the West Indies - here. Welcome | The University of the West Indies - Open Campus There is also one "real" Community College -- H. Lavity Stoutt Community College

    There are a couple of groups of University people from other countries (including Canada) doing research and study here, but no other "real" University, besides U. of West Indies, has any campus-like presence at all here. There is a cottage industry of fraudulent schools like Columbiana. Most exist only as incorporation documents filed in Road Town, Tortola, and as post-boxes and Internet sites to which dupes send money.

    Only Columbianas I like (with that exact spelling, anyway) are the flamenco kind. Colombianas (women of Colombia) -- Now that's different! Love 'em all!

    This place is sooo obviously a fraud. :sad: I'm outa here!

    There is something awfully familiar about this school. I feel like I MUST have seen this all before. Somewhere...

    FYI, "Columbiana" means (female) Columbian in Spanish :cool2: :yes(1): :yes(1): :yes(1): :yes(1): :yes(1):

    Guys (Steve and Maniac) - I went through all that BEFORE. Didn't you read it? :sad:

    Like I said BEFORE:

    Columbianas = a Flamenco guitar idiom (Yes, that's the proper spelling.)

    Colombianas = women of Colombia.

    Gracias por irritar el viejo -- Johann -- Ay! ¿Quién tiene eso en cuenta?
    :rolleyes:
