I doubt this is a topic that gets breached often because the majority of people on here have "real" jobs and already have a Resume. However, I am in the military and have never needed a resume before. With that said I know a lot of people will say "do it yourself, its not that hard, not worth the money." To me it is worththe money to have a resume done by someone with experience in drafting them. I tried the Base I work at's resume help services but they knew less about a civilian resume than I do, which surprised me. My situation is that I will be out of the military by the end of this year on a medical discharge and need a resume that will give me that extra ability to garner gainful employment. So does anyone on here know of a legitimate service for resume assistance. There are tons I have found but it is hard to know what is a good one and what is a con. Any help is appreciated. I am targeting the Atlanta area for my job searches and hope to go into a position with a larger company as either an HR Generalist, Benefits and Compensation specialist, or Advise an Counseling HR Specialist. Any helpful insight is appreciated. Thanks. Brian
No, getting help makes sense. You should ask the career services people at Troy. This is part of what you're paying for.
I use provenresumes.com and had excellent results, so I paid for them to re-do my mother's resume. She also had excellent results. (A new, federal job in less than a month using the new resume.) Their website needs some redesign, but their resume work is superb. I've been using them for about 10 years now.
