    Hi,

I want to a course in AutoCAD for my electrical/electronics engineering degree program from a regionally accredited college online, since it is a prerequisite before I enroll in the degree program at the college I am planning to go.
I inquired with them about Pennfoster and Ashworth and they turned both of them down by saying that neither is regionally accredited.
I am hoping someone could point towards a regionally accredited college online where I can take AutoCAD courses.

    Thanks,
    Rev

    Thanks Johann,

I did stumble across Dienza College's website during my research ofr a RA college that offers AutoCAD, but I was confused about the accreditation. It's accreditation sounds like regional but it is not accredited by one of the 6 regional accrediting bodies. This is what I see on their webiste:
"The accreditation of De Anza College was reaffirmed by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC) at it January 2012 meeting. The college, which received six commendations and three recommendations, will provide ACCJC with a Follow-Up Report in October 2012 and host commission representatives on a subsequent visit to the college."

But then, I also see this, which kinda makes me feel that it is RA:
"De Anza College is accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, 10 Commercial Blvd., Suite 204, Novato, CA 94949, 415.506.0234, an institutional accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the U.S. Department of Education."

I think I'll have to cal them to check about it.
    Thanks for your help.

Those are the six magic words. They were what I wanted to see, when I checked it out - and I saw them. It's RA all right -- but no harm in calling to reassure yourself. There's no such thing as "too safe," these days.

WASC (like other regional accreditors) is divided into different parts. Those parts include the following:

    - the Accrediting Commission for Schools handles K-12 schools
    - the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges handles 2-year colleges
    - the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities handles 4-year colleges and graduate schools

So a kindergarten and a medical school can both be WASC-accredited. But they will be handled by different parts of WASC.

DeAnza is a 2-year college, and it is accredited by ACCJC, because that is the part of WASC that deals with 2-year colleges.
So it is ACCJC-accredited, but it is WASC-accredited too, because ACCJC is part of WASC.

Exactly. That's what I figured from DeAnza's accreditation statement, anyway. I shoulda said so. Thanks for clarifying, CalDog.
