I know, it's hard to believe, but it looks like the IRS might be gaining a few new fans from the world of academia. IRS: Adjunct Faculty Hours Must Be Calculated With 'Reasonable' Method
hummm. I wonder how this will play out? 30 contact hours per week will constitute full time? I think Obama just wants more of my money.
I wonder if this would make schools favor hiring professionals employed in their fields who are more likely to bring their own health insurance as adjunct instructors instead of hiring "professional adjuncts" who make their livings adjunct teaching.
This IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER is beneficial to folks like me (who adjunct at 7 different schools). I fear (greatly!) that my assignments will be cut in order to avoid having to pay for health insurance coverage that I neither want nor need.
It will "help" adjuncts the same way it's "helped" all those other people whose hours have been cut back by organizations who can't afford to provide health insurance as a benefit -- they'll get less work.

Since our first line of treatment is generally alternative therapies, they are not covered by traditional medical plans. It is my fear that these schools do as others have and cut my hours because they think that they may have to provide coverage for me.
Four Public Colleges Will Cut Adjunct Faculty Hours To Avoid Providing Health Coverage Under Obamacare
Really? I agree with Ram PhD. The words "Help" and "IRS" never appear together in the same sentence in a positive way. The IRS is never "helpful" in any way.
With "friends" like the IRS helping, who needs enemies? This will not help, it will jut cause a deeper cut in hours.
