As of September 2012, TEEX's free cyber security courses are ACE-approved for lower-level credit in Introduction to Computer Security. There are 3 tracks with 3-4 courses each. If you complete all of the courses in one track, you earn 2 college credits. Complete the Non-Technical/General track and you've just completed what's listed by ACE as Computer Security for Everyone. The Technical/IT Professional track is Computer Security for IT Professionals. The Management and Business Professionals track is Computer Security for Business Professionals. Thanks for the info. I have been looking for free credits offered online to international students. From what I can see, it seems non US citizens can apply for these. Would they fulfill free credits requirements at TESC? If not, which of these courses would? Thanks
All 3 will work as free electives. Each course is worth 2 credits. One or two of the courses might work as a natural science. TESC counts some CIS courses as natural sciences. All 3 will also work as business credits, but two might only be acceptable as business electives. Of course, two of them count as computer information systems credits. If I recall correctly, Computer Security for IT Professionals is transcribed by TESC as CIS-334, Computer Security for Everyone is CIS-299, and Computer Security for Business Professionals is MAN-299. Technically, each course that is recommended for credit by ACE consists of 3 or 4 TEEX courses.
That's good. I already went ahead and I did the Cyber Ethics course. On my certificate it states 1.3 CEU. I am going to move on to the other 2. Thanks for your kind assistance.
For each track, the average for all of the courses has to be 80% in order to receive credit from ACE. For example, you would need to have an overall average of 80% for Cyber Ethics, Cyber Law and White Collar Crime, and Information Security for Everyone in order to receive credit for Computer Security for Everyone.
