Christmas means different things to different people but, in general, it's a Holy Day for many of our members. Some people will celebrate in church, some with their family or friends. Some will eat Chinese food and go to the movies. I will spend some time with the waifs and make a prayer for better times ahead. Have a wonderful day and may all your wishes come true in the new year.:heart::heart:
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all. I plan to be home and do nothing...we didn't even get around to putting up a tree this year.
The kids and I haven't had any Christmas. No tree, no decorations, no gifts. No special dinner. Nothing. We just didn't have the money this year. We actually had to hit a few food banks just to make it through the month. But you know what? We have each other. We're healthy. We're together. I'd say we're still blessed beyond words. Many don't even have that much. Happy holidays everyone
I wish each and one and all an incredibly best Merry Christmas and approaching New Year!!! We all have so much to be grateful for. Political views aside; the US is indisputably the greatest nation in the World (i.e., its people, their drive, resourcefulness, inspiration, strength, compassion, etc., etc.) … we are unsurpassed as a blessed country. Not perfect … yet still the VERY best! On behalf of our gratitude –reflect on all this. :unitedstates:
May the peace of Christ be with each of you. I love the words of Longfellow in "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day." And in despair I bowed my head; “There is no peace on earth,” I said; “For hate is strong, and mocks the song of peace on earth, good-will to men!” Then pealed the bells more loud & deep, “God is not dead; nor doth he sleep! The Wrong shall fail, the Right prevail, with peace on earth, good-will to men!”
Well, my mother went to the ER last night, our oven broke today and we could not cook our ToFurky (tofu turkey) and all the stores were closed. Lucky our favorite Vegan Vietnamese Restaurant was open. What a not so Merry Christmas...
Did the waitstaff serenade you with Christmas carols?
I enjoyed a good Christmas meal with coworkers at our local chow hall and got to have a 15 minute phone call with the wife and kids.
Tofu turkey??? I've never heard of that one before. I like me some good ol TurDuckIn, though. Deep fried. With collar greens cooked with neckbone, corn bread, and home made dumplins. Now I'm droolin on my keyboard.
I have enough kids around here that I made two Tofurkeys. Despite the name, the only thing they share with tofu is that soy is the primary ingredient.
