Why does your location say Kalamazoo, Michigan when your IP address originates in a different location entirely?

Are you using information available to you as a Moderator to make this distinction? And if so,is it a breach of the poster's privacy to post this?

This is a good board with well-meaning moderators. I'm glad they have room to fix an error here and there.

It is a typical tactic of spammers to misrepresent their location. Checking the IP addresses is something that we do to detect them. I mistook f_oduardo as a spammer because the locations do not match, but spammers usually do not reply. If f-oduardo was a spammer, my original message would have exposed him/her and that would be the end of it. Instead, I raised the ire of a number of members. My apologies to all.

Also, I understand that Puerto Rico is not actually an independent country and I am aware of its relationship with the US. My best wishes for a favorable resolution for you in this situation. I was hastily trying to fix an error in judgement and did not do a good job.

f_oduardo, if you plan on staying in your current location, please update your profile or leave your location blank on your profile page and then nothing about your location will be displayed when you post. Thanks.

No ire from me. Just a couple of questions which were addressed cordially and professionally. "No harm, no foul." (Chick Hearn)

Question: You mention getting your education "license." In the continental US, getting a license enables you to drive a school bus or work in a cafeteria, but you can not use it to teach. Getting a teaching credential is what enables you to teach. Are the semantics the same in your location, or is a "teaching license", as you call it, the document that actually qualifies you to teach?

I'm not going to play your semantics game.Thanks.

Semantics game? That is an honest and friendly question. I thought you forgave me for thinking you were a spammer? :guilty:

SurfDoctor, just the first page of a Google search for 'teaching license' shows government authorities in state after state themselves using the terms "license," "licensing," and/or "licensure" to refer what's also often called a teaching credential. TN, NC, MA, MN, NJ, OH; on following pages it goes on.

f_oduardo's usage is entirely consistent with official use "in the continental US."
