    I thought "Royals" was okay!

BREAKING NEWS!!! The #1 song in the country... DOESN'T SUCK!!! :present::fest30::banana::dance:

I heard this song on the radio earlier this week and it just made my day- I love it! It turns out, so does everyone else, because you can't avoid it no matter where you go- and I'm just fine with that!

I know I'm way late to the game, but I have to give you a high five on this one. *FIVE!!* It took until now for me to really appreciate this song and agree that it's better than Royals. Easily one of the greatest songs I've ever heard.

This week is coming to an end, and I have a special entry for this Sunday, but for the moment, lets enjoy the best song EVER for this week. The band Blondie had its ups and downs creatively, but their ups were absolutely brilliant, as shown in their 1999 comeback single Maria. I LOOOOOOVE this song.

I was going to share this anyway this week when I heard he was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but forgot to make the post until now when I read of Ultimate Warrior's death. Aside from being an iconic song in the wrestling world, I have been adding it to my workout mixes for years. It's one heck of a motivator! Listen, please, and see if you do not feel inclined to run aimlessly like a lunatic and randomly smash anything smashable!

    This one's for you, Johann!

    Prince - When Doves Cry

Err, sorry about the obscure website link. The song isn't on any of the usual video upload site.

Prince has a decent little jam on this tribute song. He starts in at 3:28

I started this thread mentioning how much I love the music of Sam Cooke. Here we have a song that I just a minute ago heard for the first time ever and I couldn't wait to share it. It's one of the best songs I've heard in a good long time. The kind of moody music that makes me happy to be alive for the sheer reason that I've been fortunate enough to hear it. Yes... it's THAT good!

Being sick has helped me to complete watching the first full season of Cheers on Hulu in the timespan of just one week. Now, all of a sudden, this is one of my favorite songs of all time. This is the FULL version of the song, which was made by popular demand some time after the TV version debuted.

I've got this entirely ridiculous song in my head this week. I wish I could say I hated it, but I love silly pop songs, so....

    Zombie Jamboree

I've had this song in my head for a week now. I used to hear it on the radio back in the late 80's/early 90's. I never knew it was from Rockapella until I looked it up on YouTube this week. I also never knew that it was a calypso folk song that has been recorded by many, including the legendary Harry Belafonte.

This link is not the best video quality, and the sound only comes out of the left speaker (lol), but Rockapella recorded several versions and this is the one I remember hearing when I was younger. It's also my favorite version, both due to the awesome zombie-voice intro by the group's bass vocalist and a certain energy in the chorus I don't hear in their other versions.

    Enjoy.

My best song of the week

From my hero the late great Johnny Cash. I like his voice even more as he aged.

I often wear all black like Johnny. Have been doing that since college. Plus, it played well in my days as a punk rocker.

I agree with this. He was smooth as silk as a young person, but seasoning did him very well. Ain't No Grave is exactly the kind of song that needs that mature rasp to set its mood.
