I will finish my undergrad in Dec. I am looking at an online Masters/MBA. If you had to choose between WGU and APUS, what do you think is the better option? Both schools are RA, but APUS is ACBSP.

I will have 21 months left on my Post 9/11 GI Bill. I would prefer to complete my graduate degree in that time frame. If any time is left, I would pursue a certificate or etc.

  2. What are your future plans? Is there a specific reason why you've narrowed it down to those two?

I currently am a production supervisor. I would not mind staying in operations. I have a background in transportation and logistics.

I do not want to take the GMAT or GRE. I enjoy managing and am interested in being an analyst.

I am turning 24 years old. I realize this is young by most standards, but I would prefer to continue my education while I am on a roll.

My wife is a graduate student at APUS, and I will finish my undergrad from APUS. I have really enjoyed my time with them.

I consider switching school to have some diversity on my resume.

I am open to any other suggestions, but do not want to have to take a bunch of prereqs because I do not have a business undergrad.

I had a negative experience with WGU and I wound up electing not to attend that school for an advanced degree. I have heard on discussion boards that others have said my experience was an outlier but whatever. When it comes to WGU do you due diligence is all I have to say.

I'd recommend taking the GRE. Go get the study guides and practice software and treat it as a learning experience. You might find that you do well and you will have more options available. Both schools are fine but I hate to see people limit themselves needlessly.

That's right. The GRE is not a big deal and many programs only require that you submit scores, because that is their school's policy. Even if your score is average you'll have so many more programs available. You will be surprised at how easy it is to get accepted. Profits, publics and non-profits all want your money and will be happy to let you in if you send them all the items on their admissions list.

I'd pick APUS over WGU, since APUS will award regular credits instead of competencies and you already know and like APUS.

I agree with all of this. There are a lot of options out there and I would explore a school that has a B&M presence. There are too many quality schools in the online market to set your limits this early.

I went to the bookstore today. I came home with The Official Guide for GMAT Review 13th Edition and a set of GMAT flashcards. Being afraid to fail is not a reason to limit my education. I will not finish my BA until December. I have plenty of time to study and apply to B-school.

I have attended both APUS and WGU and I think both are decent online schools.

I'll agree with TonyM that APUS has an advantage in that it awards "traditional" course credits. But WGU is substantially cheaper, if that matters. Plus it will allow you to complete your degree much more quickly if you are motivated.

Of course, you could do what I did and aim for degrees from both!

I finished my BA with AMU (of APUS) and had a great experience with them. But I would also suggest looking elsewere for your Grad program. I was apprehensive at taking the GRE to get into a state school but ended up buckling down and doing it anyway. The experience so far with Troy University is not much different from AMU but it has that "State School" presence to back it up on my resume that AMU simply doesn't. That is my two cents for what it is worth.

    1. Take the GMAT

    2. According to GetEducated.com - Here are 5 online AACSB MBA Programs for under 15K:

    University of Louisiana at Monroe

    University of North Dakota

    University of South Dakota

    Jacksonville State University

    Frostburg State University

    Good luck!
