I just received an email from my insurance company saying there will be no impact on my insurance and that they have included some provisions already and will be implementing all the required changes as required. My insurance is with a not-for-profit company.

Their is a new 3.8 medicare tax that will be imposed on capital gains of over $500,000 per year on a home sale for a couple and on capital gains over $250,000 for a couple per year as I understand the law (will not effect me). I think I pay twice that medicare amount as part of my Social Security taxes on my self employment income.

Obamacare is my number one item that needs to be repealed. This is nothing more than a major shift toward Western European style socialism and robs us of our freedoms for a bit of comfort for some. Its a power grab for the feds and is unconstitutional. If we didn't have justices on the supreme court who felt that international law trumps US law we would not have this terrible piece of legislation.

    Yes - see H.R. 4872-33, Chapter 2A - Unearned Income Medicare Contribution - Section 1411.

Same here. I am with Kaiser Permanente. My kick ass coverage is the same, and will remain the same. The world hasn't ended for me. I was panicking! :sgrin: I mean, when you have oxy-powered Rush Limbaugh saying he is going to split to Costa Rica if this bill was upheld, that is cause for worry! BWAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!HAHA!!!! (levicoffian).

I get the impression that you want to fix things and keep our social programs.

If this is the case, why cut Medicare/Medicaid?

Rush going to Costa Rica because he is afraid of socialized medicine is hilarious, considering that Costa Rica has an OUTSTANDING socialized medicine program. 98% of the population is covered by the state run insurance plan. There is very little private insurance. To top it off, Costa Rica, a developing country in Central America, has a life expectancy second only to Canada in the western hemisphere (beating the United States).
    Life Expectancy:
    Canada 80.8 years
    Costa Rica 79.2 years
    USA 78.2 years

I got an email from corporate last year saying that our health care costs were going up dramatically because of the affordable care act. They did go up and we lost our plans. So I didn't get to keep the plan I wanted.

It is simple, many will pay more for their insurance and many will lose the coverage they have now and like, those who really cannot afford it will also have the IRS after them, and eventually it will become a single payor plan like Europe. And the oft quoted stats about coverage don't mention how hospitals are being turned over to for profits like in England, that countries are trying to figure ways to pay for increasing costs but can't raise taxes because there is nothing more to tax so they shift money and cut it in other areas.

They may have used the act as an excuse. Heath care costs should theoretically go down since we should not be surcharged for the expensive emergency room "coverage" for the uninsured. BTW, I have a suggestion that is the best of public/private service for heath care. Every emergency room should be collocated with a minute clinic, such as is found in some CVS Drug stores. The triage personnel from the ER can shunt the boo boos, fevers and sniffles over to the minute clinic, while preserving the ER for real emergencies such as injuries from auto accidents, heart attacks and so on.

USA is the last of the industrialized nations to have a universal health care plan. Perhaps Rush could move to Somalia? I don't think they have a national health care plan there? Heck, I don't think they even have that horrible stuff like medicare there. He can be even more "FREE" there than here and walk around with an automatic weapon or maybe I should say he will need to walk around there with an automatic assault weapon. BWAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!HAHA!!!!

Progressives claiming that Somalia is a free marketeer's paradise is just as intellectually dishonest as free marketeers claiming Stalin's Soviet Union was a progressive's paradise.

I still think it would be an eye opening experience for Rush Limbaugh to see how a country with liberal gun restrictions would be like. As mentioned, he can set the selector switch to full auto, load up on some nice 5.56 or 7.62 and I'm sure tracers can be found for some evening effects. He can stand his ground 24/7 until he is the last man standing and win the approval and respect of the local warlord. I don't think Rush would enjoy the multicultural experience but he would certainly have fun with guns. Just joking.
