1 am is about the time that Kizmet decides that she should try to think about something other than Maniac Craniac, so that she can finally go to sleep Selena - Dreaming Of You - YouTube

Tonight I'm watching the Celtics send the Miami Heat on vacation. Once they win I'll sleep well.

    That requires a few assumptions.

Right now the C's are down by double digits in the 3rd quarter. It doesn't look good for my guys. Sad to say it but I'm going to bed.

my insomia is really terrible I tried every solutions they advised to me but still it didn't work.
The funny thing is I also tried to count as many as I could but sad to say even that didn't work.

there are several standard things to try to improve your ability to fall asleep in a normal amount of time. they are all based on relaxation techniques and one might work for you while another may not. they are all based on a dual focus. the first component is to relax yourself physically. slow down your breathing and slow down your heartrate. the second component is to calm your mind. focus your thoughts on something that is relaxing and pleasant.

some people play music. if you like classical music i recommend mozart's piano concerto #2. don't use beethoven (too angry). i also recommend non-melodic music such as japanese flute music. there is no pattern to latch onto and so your mind begins to let go of expectations.

some people like white noise, like the sound of a fan. others prefer pink noise. it's similar but more natural, like the sound of a brook or ocean waves (btw, it's interesting to read about accoustics because there are many noise colors, not just white and pink).

some people like guided imagery. this might be a recording of someone talking, "imagine yourself walking down the beach..." it could be anything, as long as the evoked images are relaxing and pleasant. sometimes it matters male v. female voice.

some exercise helps but only if it's several hours before you go to bed. don't try push-ups 10 minutes before trying to sleep, it will only make things worse. in my experience, swimming and yoga work best.

i would also want to point out that for a relatively small investment you can buy a simple bio-feedback unit that will help you learn to lower your blood pressure. typically they will emit an audible tone that you can lower by reducing you bp. once you've trained yourself you can use that skill to help you relax and fall asleep.

pleasant dreams everyone. (it's me and 149 others on the board at this moment)
