It's a miracle. We just got word that she got into UCLA when over 10,000 applicants were denied. Woo Hoo, I'm so excited! (now does anyone have any money I could borrow?)

Congratulations to you both. She must be a very good student. I have a question about UCLA (I've never been to LA). Is it a hardcore urban campus that's integrated into the cityscape or is it somehow a more condensed and separate from the surrounding neighborhoods? Just curious.

It's fairly condensed as a hardcore campus that fits the cityscape that is separate from the surrounding neighborhoods but is integrated into the lifestyle of the urban scene. How's that for non-answer? Actually, I've never seen it, but I'll ask my daughter and let you know.

She applied as an English major, but I'm hoping and praying that she will be able to switch to something more useful. Especially considering the price tag involved. Nothing wrong with English, but it does not open the door to many jobs.

What else is she interested in besides English? Is there a particular job she wants the requires that major, or does she just like English?

Congrats! And don't sweat the English Major - lots of businesses love English/Communications majors!

She is actually interested in marketing too. Daddy votes for that one. However, Shawn and others tell me that many businesses look favorably on English majors and coming from UCLA, it might work out OK for her. I might start a thread on that idea and get some more input.
