For those that started out at Western New Mexico University this semester, how do you like it so far? What are your concentrations?

Right now I'm taking World War I and Ancient Civilizations. Doing a lot of reading, and dreaming about what to write for my 25 p. papers in each class. Going to be a busy semester!:silly:

You took two Lavalle classes? You must have a deathwish!

I think it's great at WNMU. I've been pleasantly surprised at the level of discussion in the classes.

I'm an English and Writing student. Because this is my second MA, my degree requires me to complete only 30 hours with at least 18 hours in a subject.

This semester, I'm taking "Shakespeare and his Contemporaries" and "The American Novel."

I'm planning to do 21 hours of English and 9 hours of writing.

I wish I could do a straight M.A. in English. They offer enough credits for it, but in lieu of the MA in English, the dual English/Writing concentration is pretty close.

I could probably get an MA in English elsewhere, but the low tuition at WNMU outweighs the nomenclature.

I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying yourself thus far. I would recommend taking some classes with Debbie Heller, she is an incredible teacher, and I look forward to the chance when I can take some more of her classes. If you are interested in Greek plays, her class on Greek Tragedies was really interesting. I think it is offered in the summer.

I know what you mean about the low tuition. It really is a bargain. Here's to hoping there are no dramatic changes in cost any time soon. When I graduated from my undergrad, I didn't have much money (err...still don't!), and I didn't want to take on more debt, so this seemed to be the most cost effective way to do so.

Good luck! Hope to see you in some English classes in the future!
