I am unable to send this private message for the same frustrating technical reasons described below, so I'm posting it here instead.

Thank you for the message SurfDoctor, but there is actually a frustrating technical error for new users of the DegreeInfo site. On computers in different locations on either Firefox or IE I will be randomly logged out of my account. Clicking the "Reply to Thread" button will yield a "you do not have access to this page" even if I'm already logged in. I then enter my username and password (the screen pops up twice asking for credentials), and I can then view the posting form. When I click "Submit Reply" I am again told "you do not have access to this page". I then enter my login credentials twice, and am redirected to the main forum index page. I have no idea if my post was submitted successfully, since the only message produced is "Thank you for logging in, funInSun."

I suggest that the moderators should try logging in as a new user. They will likely find the experience very frustrating. For example immediately after I logged in I saw your notification. I clicked "View Notifications" and received another "you do not have access to this page", where I then had to re-enter my credentials. I originally tried to use the Quick Reply to send you this message but I received the "you do not have access to this page" again. After logging in, my sent message box was empty. This is why I'm resending this message, I apologize if it is a duplicate. This makes it very difficult to participate in DegreeInfo, a moderator should really try this out so that whatever technical bug is present can be fixed.

    Thank you.

Do you have cookies turned off?

No, cookies are turned on, degreeinfo is the only forum this happens with. If a moderator/admin actually tries making a new user account, it will be very easy to see the problem.

That was my first thought also. I have nothing more to add to this thread than that I am loving MC's new sig quote.:veryhappy: Had not heard that one yet, and it made me laugh out loud. My son ran in to see what was so funny.

Sorry for your troubles funInSun. Sounds like a computer issue to me, rather than a site issue, but I'm a surface-level user, so my advice is worth peanuts. Good luck!

Now, back to my research paper......

I've had the same issue, posting now to see if it's working yet.

I *think* this problem is related to something that causes the cookies to get corrupted. We had a problem with the earlier version of vB but it went away after the upgrade. If you haven't already, I suggest you try deleting all the degreeinfo related cookies (there are a bunch) and let the system recreate them and see if it solves the problem. Meantime, I'm going to check and see if there's a known issue in vB4 that could be contributing to this.
