I know there are some programs out there. Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville has one, but it's not available via DL. Does anyone know of any DL EdD programs with non-traditional dissertations? I'm not necessarily looking for myself; I'm just curious!
What is it about Trevecca Nazarene University that makes their dissertation "non-traditional"? Looks pretty typical to me...Graduate Education Program
Ed.D Leadership and Professional Practices Trevecca Nazarene University - Nashville, TN - Trevecca.Edu On this page, they describe how it is a project related to your place of employment and that you work on it while completing coursework. That's all I know about it.
This does not sound non-traditional to me; at my former place of employment several Ph.D. candidates were working on research/dissertations using work projects (in business or engineering). Some universities allow proprietary dissertations where critical information is withheld from the general public. I would call this approach "applied research."
True. I would say any place (DL or otherwise) would let you do a dissertation this way, as long as it meets the "original work" and "contributes to the body of knowledge" criteria.
So does the University of California on occasion depending on the school, program, and committee. In the case I am familiar with the student was offered the choice of published peer reviewed papers or dissertation. She did both.
