The paradox of difficult classes.

    Has anyone noticed that as the difficulty of a class goes up, your performance and grade in that class goes up as well? I find if a class is too easy, I don't even feel like putting in any effort, and so I might only pull a B or B+ in that class. But conversely, if the class is hard, I feel compelled to try my hardest and pull out an A+.

    I've noticed to a certain extent, but I always have a minimum expectation of an A. I will never let myself "slack" into a B.

    Yea, same here. Easy class or hard, an A- is the lowest grade I have gotten in many years.

    I audit my one class a semester its a plus for me I'm willing to tackle a tough class since there is no grade and I don't have to take tests but can try photography or a basic mathematics class or a science class if not to high level if the professor says its ok - I usually tell him or her my unschooling portfolio. And say why so I can learn something new likely I might not do well in if I went for credit but want to challenge myself, if there is room for me in the class. But most consider me ,to be kind, different. I was refused when the classes had degree students filling the seats but I just try again or find out what books were used and do it myself. But I always do my best or what is the point.

    I remember South Park an episode had a Check, Check Plus or Check Minus system I was thinking why not do that for all classes and forget the grades it would make if better.
