Maybe someone can help (or Ted can create a massive list like he has in the past for other programs). I am looking for an EdS that is meeting s the following: 100% online or only 1 residency No final “paper” or thesis From a school that is not known as an “online school” (NCU, Capella, Walden, etc) Relatively cheap No certification as an educator for admissions or exit
If you don't mind that the only available concentrations are Educational Technology and Special Education, you may want to look at Northwestern State University of Louisiana: NSU | eNSU | Specialist Degree: Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership and Instruction -=Steve=-
Randell, Wayne State College (B&M) may meet your criteria: Offers a 33-hour online Ed.S. in school administration /educational leadership. Online student tuition rate is $237.50; program cost $7837.50. WSC’s education department has NCATE accreditation. <<-- Wayne State College -->>
Steve, The Northwestern State Ed.S. “… is designed to provide certified teachers advanced knowledge and skills in areas of leadership, technology, and special education.” Possibly non-teacher certification applicants might also be considered for admission (?). It could be worth a call ... NSU | eNSU | Specialist Degree: Educational Specialist in Educational Leadership and Instruction
For current military members and veterans, the EdS through Liberty comes in at $250 per credit for 30 credits and appears to meet your requirements. This rate also applies to military spouses.
I totally love LU so far. Their student service is top notch. Rigor seems pretty solid too, early in the program.
Hi Randell, Before going to Walden, I started out in an instructional technology program with Virginia Tech. I was 6 credits in before I decided to switch. Looking back, I kind of wish I had stuck with it. Although, now that I'm almost done my 2nd masters, I could go back to Tech for an EdS. If you already have a masters, you do the same program and get an EdS. Check it out - ITMA Instructional Technology Master of Arts Program | Virginia Tech -Matt
For some reason, I knew you'd be looking to continue using your employer-provided tuition reimbursement. Except they stop paying, I would continue to pile up as many degrees as possible. Go for it! Option 1: Webster University: Webster University: Online Programs Option 2: University of Missouri: Mizzou Online | University of Missouri | Online Educational Specialist Degrees Option 3: Nova Southeastern University: Fischler School : : Prospective Students : Educational Specialist
Using the TA money, I will probably do this - http://onlinecampus.uwf.edu/pdfs/DegreePlan/MSA/MSAHumanPerformanceTechnology.pdf They have a 4 class certificate that will all roll into the degree - UWF - Department of Engineering and Computer Technology - Human Performance Technology (HPT) If I wanted to pay out of pocket (as I am doing with my MBA from TUI) then I may do an EdS. I am paying out of pocket for the MBA because I used all my money on the PhD.
You’re very welcome Randell. I did actually speak with the dean of Wayne State College’s education department about a year ago regarding their Ed.S program; even so, I never enrolled. Not because of the WSC program, but within Texas public school education there doesn’t appear to be a career benefit and/or demand toward this particular post master degree. Perhaps that’s why (merely speculation), no educational specialist degree programs are currently offered via Texas colleges /universities (?).
