I have two NA degrees, they were recognized in EU and I was registered as Sate-certified Engineer, and State-certified Manager. This is a Qualification recognized in EU directives on recognition of professions in All 27 EU countries.
    It is also internationally recognized.

I note there is no thread (much less a "sticky") called "RA Success Stories." Interesting that such a distinction is unnecessary.

How about a sticky about the millions of recent college grads from RA schools who are drowning in student loan debt and can't find a job?

Yes, I'm being facetious. Seriously, I think the reason this thread exists is because so many people here wonder about the utility of an NA degree. I see it as a positive thing, especially for those who are new here and learning about accreditation.

Or how about a sticky talking about all the shootings that take place on RA campuses? Yes, I'm being a sensationalist right now, but hey, you don't see students getting blasted every year at ACICS schools.

The main steam and majority of degree granting institutions in the US are RA.

A small % of graduates in US are from NA accredited schools.
They already earned the degree and now trying to apply it.

In UK I had harder time to get registered with EC UK. They rely on NARIC evaluation, NARIC UK will not evaluate US NA degrees.

So I had to provide Technical Project a very serious undertaking and defend it in front a panel of professionals.
People with RA and ABET accredited degrees get recognition and registration as CEng much faster.

So this was one difficulty I had, but thanks God I was able to overcome it.

Thank you both for your articulate analysis on this topic. RA schools are not the underdog in this battle of one-upmanship. Instead, NA schools seem to be constantly put on the ropes to try and prove themselves. That being the case, this thread is not only worthy but necessary.
If the goal of this site is to educate, inform and give direction then of course we need to see who is making their way with an NA degree.
My daughter is stepping out as an RA freshman this fall. I'm pleased for her. That being said, an affordable NA school seems a lot more likely in my continuing education if I am going to be able to assist her in her journey.

Sometime recently, while surfing the Web for Great Books colleges, I found a "tutor" (their word for faculty) at an RA Great Books college who holds an NA DA from Harrison Middleton University. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find it again.

I see that there was a professor there with an MA from Harrison Middleton and a PhD from Florida State and I had seen that one. But I think there was a guy with a DA from Harrison Middleton who was on the faculty of an RA Great Books school. The one I had seen with the Harrison Middleton DA reserves the term "Professors" for the Great Books authors and calls those who do the actual teaching "Tutors."

My apologies Ted. I did not notice the DA (details are sometimes landmines to me so I inadvertantly avoid them).:popworm:

My search has proved as futile as yours in regards to "Professor DETC".:rambo:

Getting back to the subject of this thread, are you all aware of this resource for DETC success stories?:deal:

Yes indeed! This is a huge event, and great exposure for DETC school students. Quite a few of our esteemed DI members have been recipients of this award. One that I can think of is the DL pioneer Jamie Gauthier.

    Go get em Detective Gauthier!

I hate that this thread is even necessary. I have had amazing experiences in NA schools, and a horrible one at a RA school. I dont understand why RA is the gold standard. I dont believe it should be. I feel NA and RA should be held at the same level, to the same standards. This stigma that NA is so much lower than RA really ticks me off.

Regional accreditaton is older and therefore has deeper roots and stronger ties. Nevertheless, I don't believe in the idea that because a school is RA it's automatically better, because it just isn't true.

You and I share a common awful experience with Ashford with many of the exact same issues. That school is regionally accredited, but it amazes me--considering how much of a joke it is--that anyone would accredit that trainwreck. I'll never forget how the professor for my computer class didn't know how to take a screenshot... A PROFESSOR OF A COMPUTER CLASS WHO DIDN'T KNOW HOW TO TAKE A SCREENSHOT? That's like a math professor who doesn't know how to add 2+2, and had I stuck around for more than one semester I bet I would've run into one there.

The acceptance of NA has risen quite a bit since the founding of this website.....acceptance for federal employment was a huge step forward, IMO.

Several years ago, it's not a recent development.

Not my first time to play "Catch up". I didn't realize that. Appreciate what you were saying about DETC looking different now than when this board first started. My sense is that there remains an ideological conflict with some though.
