  1. I've found Philadelphia to be the center of the college bumper sticker world. Seems everyone is sporting their alma mater somewhere on their vehicle.

Do you guys think this is tacky and shallow or just showing your school pride?

I don't do bumper stickers of any kind, I do like tag surrounds (Alumni of so and so University, etc...) or the occasional small discrete window sticker. If you think Philly is bad come to my neck of the woods and you will see entire vehicles painted in school colors. Tacky doesn't describe what goes on here. I think Roseanne Barr said it right: "America's worst nightmare – white trash with money."

Keeping in mind that often a school is an anchor for a city, state, etc... I think it is great that for many folks, just attending, let alone graduating, from some of these state schools, is a crowning achievement, and I let them have their fun.

some folks never stop supporting: RIP

I think as long as it isn't overdone, it's just an expression of school pride.

No bumper stickers, but window decals are fine. I have two cars, a mid-90's range rover that is kind of my toy and it has window decals for Auburn, Vanderbilt and Harvard along with a few other decals. My daily driver has a Auburn alum tag frame and a small harvard GSE decal

For Bama, if you don't see a fake skeleton decked out like Bear Bryant, you are doing pretty well.

I've never been a bumper sticker person of any kind. But our state sells license plates of all 15 state universities with school letters and colors. As a graduation present to myself I bought one. I work in U of M town and see tons of U of M plates all over, so i thought I'd represent my alma mater. It cost like an extra $35 for the plate and it will be $10 extra every time I need to renew, but the extra $10 goes for scholarship programs for the school. It's just a pride thing. Also if I happen to lose my car in a parking lot with tons of cars exactly like mine all parked next to eachother, I'll know mine is the one with the EMU license plate.

One bumper sticker isn't so bad, I may consider getting one if EC sells them.

I went to Bethany College in Lindsborg, KS, aka "Little Sweden." Our mascot was the Swedes. One time on vacation to Door County, Wisconsin my family ate at this Swedish restaurant called Al Johnson's. They had a nice little gift shop attached. I found a bumper sticker in blue & gold (the Swedish flag colors as well as our school colors) that said "Have you hugged a Swede today?" I came back to campus from that vacation sporting the bumper sticker & I was the envy of campus! In fact, our bookstore ended up ordering several of those stickers. I no longer have the truck I put it on, but I wish I had another one of those stickers.

Living in Kansas City, I see a ton of the "usual suspect" bumper stickers/decals/liscence plates like KU, KSU, & MU. Occasionally I'll see someone with Emporia State flair & I have to resist the urge to wave, lol. I have yet to see any Bethany College flair up here, though.

School: The best years of your life.
Student: OK! *hands over best years of his life* Is that it?
    School: No. Advertise for me.
    Student: Will I be paid?
School: No. You will pay me.

I know, you wanted it with a Houndstooth checked lining and a Big Al plush to hug. It's ok. I'm sure that they can accommodate.......

Many of my neighbors fly flags outside their home from their college - a lot from USC and UCLA. I fly an ERAU flag - the only one I've ever seen.

I also have an ERAU plate frame on one vehicle.

It’s reported that Bryan/College Station Texas has “the highest per capita of maroon vehicles in the state”. Is that taking school colors a bit far?

I don't think so. Vehicle color is simply a matter of preference. I don't see any meaningful distinction between choosing a color to represent your alma mater and choosing a color for another reason.
