No, I don't want to go there. How much is the tuition for an MBA? Just curious.

    Thanks,

    Abner :)

Man, UOP to expensive for me. One of my friends attend UOP and thinks its Harvard or something. He always talking about attending a school that is recognized all of the world. He told me nobody will hire a person from some off-brand school.

He can have it. I’ll stick with RWU.

Why would anyone in their right mind attend UOP? I mean, nowadays there are far, far more options available, and cheaper too. Schools such as Columbia College, FIU, Aspen, Regis, Liberty, Benedictine, UF, and the list goes on an on.

On a side note to Abner, thanks to you man I'm seriously thinking on getting my doctorate at Aspen. I was thinking of halting my education with an MBA, but seeing how good Aspen is, and their price. It is definitely a no-brainer. Specially with my tuition assistance.:D

Based on work associates who earned either bachelors or masters degrees there three things (not via DL however):
    (1) Company paid tuition
    (2) Convenient course locations - classes either held on their work site or at convenient local satellite campuses. Otherwise, as in my case, they might have to commute for 2 or 3 hours round trip after work.
    (3) Apart from recent news reports I have never heard any negativity toward UoP in the Los Angeles/Orange County area from employees or employers.

I might add that where I live now in a somewhat remote desert area there is a satellite campus for CSUSB, UoP, and Chapman. Some UoP students headed there after community college because it they can't get into the small CSUSB program and can't afford to live out of town (and most younger students do not pursue DL degrees).

But I agree UoP is expensive and that there are better choices available.

UOP is a complete rip-off for its online programs. Its campus programs are expensive, but they are somewhat more reasonable.

At 685 per credit hour, plus 110 for the resource fee, the cost for a three-hour course is $2165. The classes are six weeks. You are paying $51.54 per day to take a UOP class online.

    That's outrageous.

If you live near San Deigo you are very close the National University. I highly recommend it. I have earned two degrees there and was very happy with it. I'm not sure it is much cheaper than UoP though. Haven't checked in several years. My master's back in 2003 cost about $12K, if I remember correctly.

Back when i did my Bachie's at UOP, there weren't really any / many other online options. The amount of 100% online degrees that have developed over the last 10 years is mind-boggling.

I agree it was terribly expensive, were I just starting NOW there's no way I would go with it.

Plus back then they'd had a lot less negative media than they do now. :D

ETA: The other day I got a mailer from them - "Isn't it time you thought about pursuing your Master's Degree?" I had to laugh, my UMass program is $100 a less per credit and has a much better reputation.....

No problem. Aspen is so student friendly, and you will get top notch education. I have been to B&M colleges and Unis, and you are basically just a number to them.

You will love Aspen, and if you get tuition reimbursement (depending on how much you get), you could probably pay it off entirely! No brainer.

    Have a good one!

That's friggin crazy!!!!!!!! I was doing a presentation with some union attorneys last week. For some reason, one of the attorneys said something like "He must have graduated from UOP!!!!" This was side as a joke, with the inference that UOP is a joke. I felt bad because I know for a fact there were two or three UOP grads in the audience.

I don't mean this as a mean spirited comment towards UOP, we all know they are regionally accredited, etc. I just cac't see paying that much for a school that has received A LOT of negative media attention, as another wise poster noted.

I know a local sports radio host that claimed UOP would give him a degree in 15-mins.

This is why I did my mba there, plus at the time there wasn't a lot of choices for an accounting concentration and I needed the credits for the CPA. Luckily, I have a lot of experience and the CPA reinforces the idea that I know what I'm doing lol.

I feel like I actually learned quite a bit in my classes, but sadly I wouldn't be able to recommend it to anyone due to their reputation.

True, from what I have heard from a friend that teaches in the classroom there, UoP is as good as any other online school in rigor and general academic quality. It's their enrollment tactics that are ruining their reputation. Too big, too greedy.

I work at a very large company and to be honest, people I work with view UOP as a joke. One person that I know of pursued a degree there and no one took that very seriously. She also talked about it like it was an Ivy league school, which really did not help matters.

U of P is RA and I'm sure the education is there, the rep is what’s missing. I don’t there is a member that here that would turn down a free education from them.

I've seen several people across the various sites on the Internet mention that the UoP courses are rigorous and that they've learned a lot from them - once they've gotten past the first several classes to the point where students who were unable to operate at the level required by the content in the classes had dropped out.

The two major hits on UoP that I've seen are the overall cost and the recruiting tactics. I've not spoken to a UoP grad as of yet who did not complain that there were people in the program who simply were not ready for(or able to handle) the level of the subject matter that the program involved.

Does UoP care if they get a bunch of people to sign up for their programs and take out student loans to pay for them, only to drop out because they were in way over their head? It doesn't appear so, because they keep enticing people into the same situation. The school still gets paid via the student loans, so its no skin off their nose.

Me, I'm still trying to figure out my newfound friends' business model.... There's a crucial piece missing, and we just can't figure it out...
    1 Steal Underpants
    2 ????
    3 Profit

    Hmmm....
