Impressive, and this is from the magazine that publishes the school rankings. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan of Aspen and I'm even considering going there, but doesn't the article sound almost like a paid ad rather than an article?

It definitely does. Also, along with the other thread where the person was speaking about "online" college the article made it seem weird the way they used "online." It has never bothered me before but they seemed to stress it in the article. Made me think that they don't have a base college but rather are scattered all over the world and the college doesn't exist but for online.....

It stinks that he had to bring up the fact about the staff, books, and quality compared to traditional colleges.

Interesting I took that as him saying even though it's cheaper the quality is still there, not even though it's "online" it has equal quality.

He says "affordable and flexible way." He posts here, I am sure he will clarify if he feels the need.

The article was stressing online and being the first entirely online MBA, he could have very well meant both.

Either way, I am rooting for Aspen as I think they have fantastic leadership and quality programs.

Yes and the stock image aids in creating that feeling for me that as well.

Having been interviewed for articles before, the author/magazine/newspaper, whatever dictates how the article will be posted. The interviewee has no control over how the article will appear or be written.

Good for Aspen!!!! Things like this help bring DL to the forefront, instead of in the shadows.

And who are you kind Sir? It seems rather odd that you appear out of nowhere to make a stupid remark. I think I know from which hell hole you cometh.

Did you do an intro over in that thread to let people know who you are?

Nope, I did not. Why, what's up?

    Abner!

I'm surprised by your response. Give the new guy/girl a chance. Just because Stadium had something negative to say about an article written by your alma mater (not even about the school directly), doesn't mean you need to jump all over them like they just commited a felony! If Stadium truly is a mill shill or works for another school, it will all come out in due time. Until then, perhaps we should give this person some leeway.

There was nothing stupid about his remark. The stock photo really does make it look like an ad, and rightly so -- any piece that lopsided has to be an advertorial.

Well an Intro lets people know who you are, what you’re up to and all that good stuff. It makes the board a more welcoming place to hang out.

I feel like I am in a little bit of a weird situation, I don’t want to turn DegreeInfo into my Aspen FAQ blog. However, to address this thread, we did not pay anything US News picked this up on their own. I did not have any control over the article or how it was put together. I of course am thrilled they did pick this up and post it on their ‘how to pay for college’ section, we must be doing something right!

My quote was intended to be concerning the quality of our school and programs (which as you may imagine I believe very strongly in), not that I had to justify DL. In my mind the DL format is old news, I think most schools have it.

The first sentence tells you that the piece is not an objective article.

How should the article be written to make it "more objective"? Is there any "objective" news articles btw?

People here have lost their minds. This was a great article that highlighted the schools benefits for adults. The reason it everyone things it sounds like an ad is because it is so positive about the school. What the heck do you want? You want the paper to show the negative aspects of the school? They (the paper) used a stock pic they had, I'm sure Dr. Lady did not submit the pic they used or he would have used one from their recent grad...lay off..

Dlady, although you emphasize altruistic motives for offering such low tuition for your degree programs, how is Aspen able to provide such incredibly reasonable tuition while being able to remain profitable and solvent?

What?!? This is not a research paper, it's an article! Did you want them to put bad stuff in about the school, or do you think Dr. Lay paid them to run it?
