I would like to know the experience of those who have completed or are completing two DL degrees simultaneously. How do you cope with time? What degrees are you taking? Which universities? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I completed my graduate certificate from the University of Florida while working on my PhD from NCU. The 3 classes from UF took me a year (one class per semester) while taking one class a semester at NCU. It is not to hard as long as you do not take to many classes at once. If you do take two difference programs at once from different schools, I would recommend you know and understand the format of at least one of the programs before diving into another. It would be too stressful to try to learn two difference schools rules and expectations and technology (eCollege, Blackboard, Moodle, etc). I looked at it like this - I could comfortable handle 6 credits per 12/16 week semester. They could be with one school or two schools.

    Hope that helps.

It's all a matter of how many units you carry. If you load yourself up with too many units for the amount of time you have available, you are going to have a hard time whether you are attempting two degrees or one. Like Randell says, if you pace yourself, you should be able to do it. The only question is why? Why not finish one degree as quickly as you can and then go into the other degree. It would probably take you the same amount of time as doing both degrees as once.

The reason of why I don’t first focus on one degree, finish it and then get the other one is cost. I will only be able to afford one course at the time in one master’s degree. I selected the other programme because it wasn’t as demanding at a relatively low cost. I don’t see myself taking more than two courses at once (one for every degree). My reasoning was that once I finish the expensive one, I would have almost completed the second one and gained precious time to move forward and apply for my PHD. I just wanted some feedback from people that have already tried studying two degrees at once so I can have another perspective (from someone with real life experience on the matter) before committing to two master degree programmes.
