I'm probably wayyyy out of my depth giving anyone any kind of PhD advice, but I'm going to say it anyway. If you quit, you have absolutely excluded yourself from opportunities that right now you are only speculating about.

It only has Chea which does not mean much. It is little more than another unaccredited university. ACBSP is great to have on top of RA, but by its self seems....shady.

This school could not get accredited in their own country. I have read all the excuses, but at the end of the day it is unaccredited.

You are getting what I call the "mid doctorate trepidations".

Stick it out! You are almost finished! Obtaining a doctoral degree is filled with doubts about self, the program, utility, your chair, etc. Basically, its a bunch of BullShtt with hoops that need to be jumped through. I went through the same thing and took a two semester break and I am now jumping in again to finish the final stretch. Good luck! Only you can find the inner strength to suck it up and continue!

I don't agree with that, you are just as smart (if not smarter) then everyone else.

I saw that one coming from a mile away...

Very well said. Just because one person does not accept it does not mean the academic world will not accept it. I called a local B&M school and asked about adjunct work and I asked if they were opposed to hiring someone with an online PhD's. The responses was, "is it regionally accreditied?" When I said yes they said, "Then it would not be a problem. Do you have work experience in the field?"

    Now Michael said
    2. It appears that future adjunct online jobs, to supplement payback income, are possible but not guaranteed.

    4. One of my secret goals was to use the degree to teach part-time at one of my alma maters. I contacted the dean of the business department there and he said he would not even interview someone with an online degree.

    2. Tell more one school that will guarantee an ROI on anything they offer.

    4. You said you contacted the dean of the business department and he would not even interview someone with an online degree. Do you have experience in business? I am not trying to be all pro-online degrees but I have to wonder if his opinion would be different if an applicate had extensive real-world business experience and an online PhD.

Just thinking out loud....or thinking and typing.

If the truth be known, that is part of the doctoral process or "right of passage".

Delta, I just withdrew from NCU. It's not my ability to complete the program but the cost versus utility of the degree. Spending 40k plus on a degree that folks could potentially discriminate against is too risky a venture. I'd rather spend more on a program or a DL program from a traditional institution - so that folks don't have any doubts about the degree. I just learned my lesson - just been denied admission into a doctoral program at a state institution that offers DL course because of my masters degree from online-only school. I love DL, but i think the right DlL programs are the ones offered by B & M institutions. Enough with internet-only universities.

By the way, withdrawing from NCU costs about $200. I hope the shareholders wnjoy sharing it.

    ACBSP : ACBSP Accreditation

CHEA - Council for Higher Education Accreditation

The CHEA-recognized scope of accreditation is: Degree programs in business and business-related fields at the associate, baccalaureate, and graduate levels.

The eight regional accrediting commissions through its Council of Regional Accrediting Commissions developed the Statement of "Best Practices for Electronically Offered Degree and Certificate Programs." Each commission separately in keeping with their own policies and procedures is currently considering the document.

Excellent point. Some schools I interviewed with seemingly were more concerned with the degree of real-world business experience I had than with my degrees. If you don't have any business experience, it may be worth considering starting a consulting firm/ working for an acquaintance that has one, etc.

They are not recognized as a real accreditation by the US department of Education. CHEA is a non-profit, and is not a goverment run agency ACBSP is not recognized by the US government as an accreditation agency.

Not explicitly. My masters GPA was 4.0. My bachelors GPA was 3.86. This institution requires a bachelors degree (in anything) with 3.25 or 12 graduate credits minimum requirement, so I'm assuming my application met those standards. Upon receiving the denial letter, I called the program chair and wanted to know what was lacking so I can remedy it and reapply next year, he said they had better qualified students and that applying next year will not guarantee me acceptance. I asked if I can complete a second masters from a B & M school and reapply, he repeated that I still will be be guaranteed admission. That's how i came up with that conclusion. I know someone from another country who got accepted, and he was my referral.

Actually, I'm just getting started. I've only finished 2 classes. So there is a great deal of time and expense ahead.

Yea, but I still have my doctorate in microwave cheffery, so there's no problem. :) Actually, I've only completed 2 classes and there is a lot of time and expense ahead.

There's no problem with the hijack; if a thread has more to be said, there is no way a person could hijack it. You could post something off topic and people will keep it on track because they have more to say. If the subject is worn out, then it needs to be hijacked anyway.

I don't understand what you mean (bold underlined above). Do you mean sill not be guaranteed admission?

It sounds like you have thought this out quite well. Aspen is a great school. I don't blame for not wanting to dip into your retirement savings.

Try out Aspen, you WILL love IT!

You are correct. I meant to say "I still will not be guaranteed admission."

My capstone professor at TUI encouraged me to enroll in their Business Phd. I may end up going back depending on some factors. I will make up my mine once I talk to the dean sometime next week. I can deal with their tuition. The difference between tuition at TUi and NCU can be applied toward another degree if need be.
