Colleges are knowingly teaching LIES! Here is an example of a lie, and after I pointed it out the lie is still being taught. Most colleges teach only the Europeans put the Africans into slavery, but the Africans never put whites into slavery.

As you can see below, the truth is the Africans started putting whites into slavery first. The picture below was taken in Africa of descendants of whites that were captured and brought to Africa as slaves.

Large numbers of shipwrecked Europeans became slaves along the entire coast of Africa. American Sea Captain James Riley was shipwrecked off the coast of Africa in 1815 but was able to escape slavery and wrote about it. ]" Enslaved James Riley

Here is the story of Robert Drury who was enslaved by blacks in Madagascar. Shipwreck adventurer's book proven true after 270 years | UK news | The Observer

White Berbers in Africa. They are descendants of whites captured by Africans and put in slavery.

I read a little about the book and it looks interesting. I do not think anyone is trying to hide the few occurrences of white slavery in Africa. Heck, take any American History to 1865 course and you will read all about white slavery in America. They were called indentured servants and it was a common practice. White slavery by other whites was practiced longer than black slavery was.

Zanger writes that "Most colleges teach only the Europeans put the Africans into slavery, but the Africans never put whites into slavery."

I do think you are very wrong. Can you offer any evidence of this? My belief and understanding is that the notion of Africans putting whites into slavery is widely and regularly taught. As (partial) evidence, I offer the fact that a comprehensive book on this matter, by an Ohio State professor, making the case that more than a million Europeans were enslaved in Africa in the 16th-18th century, has been widely adopted as a textbook or supplemental reading book on a great many US campuses.

(Christian Slaves, Muslim Masters: White Slavery in the Mediterranean, the Barbary Coast, and Italy, 1500-1800 by Robert Davis (Palgrave Macmillan, 2004).

I always thought this was pretty common knowledge. People groups have been enslaving other people groups for thousands of years....nothing new to see. Move along....move along.

The word "slave" is derived from the Slavic people of eastern Europe who were......wait for it......enslaved.

Well, first find a textbook that outright says that white people were never enslaved, and then claim that you found a lie. I admit that I was unaware that white slavery occurred in Africa before reading this post, but of course, I am not shocked because I have never read anything ever ever ever that claimed that it didn't happen.

First, I said most colleges, not all. Or a better way to rephrase my statement is most college history, teaching, & English courses do not teach that slavery was a two ways street. In a large University with 500 teachers there is probably one that brings it up at least once. I bring up English & teaching courses because they often revolve around the topic of racism. Of all the ones I took, never even once was it mentioned that whites, except in the Roman Empire & Greece, were slaves. I was specifically taught that only whites owned blacks. A lie.

The topic of the thread is lies taught in college, slavery was only an example. Read a book like the ones below so you can understand what goes on in colleges. My suggestion to anyone is to not waste your time or money in any English or Social Science course.

It's common knowledge that the Africans were enslaving each other (or other tribes) hundreds of years ago. The Africans ran a lucrative slave trade. Later, the Africans began selling enslaved black tribesmen and black tribeswomen to Europeans i.e. whites purchased black slaves from black slave owners and then transported them to the Americas.

Check out the white, blond haired slave on the left, in the picture of emancipated slaves. Also look at the picture of Confederate General Waite who was a nonwhite Indian, that was a slaveowner. Below is a picture from Uncle Tom's Cabin of the white slave Susan being sold.

Yes folks, you were taught lies in school. The lie was slave owners were all white racists that enslaved only nonwhites. Slave status had nothing to do with race, slavery was based on the status of the mother.

    White slave on left.

Nonwhite Confederate general, he owned whites.

Susan in Uncle Tom's Cabin was a white, look at picture of her being sold on the auction block.

Below is a quote about the slave Susan in Uncle Tom's Cabin, she is described as having "color-less cheeks."

so...............we all know this......also in UTC she is called "yellow" which means a light skinned black person. If she was white she would not have been called yellow. What are you getting at with all of this.

In fact, no school I have been to nor any book I have read nor any documentary I have watched has claimed anything of the sort. Exactly where are you finding these lies, and, why are you working so hard to find them?

I would be interested in seeing some actual evidence that lies are being taught. So far I've seen an allegation but I don't believe I've seen any evidence.

Absolutely, blacks sold blacks to whites, blacks sold whites to blacks, whites sold blacks to whites, whites sold whites to whites and blacks...everybody was involved, Berbers, Saracens, Vikings, Venetians, Dutch....the reason we learn about whites owning black slaves is that it's a blotch on our national history and a bloody war was fought over it less than 150years ago...it's timely and relevant, like Roosevelt and Lincoln as topics are generally more relevant than say, Charlemagne....don't worry about it.

It is nice to know it is equal opportunity racism - everyone hates and owns everyone!

Wow, I saw this book featured on Hanity, and couldn't believe how insane the premise was. Most of those "lies" are not taught in the mainstream and what's worse is that there is no basis for calling the lies "liberal" other than that it serves the conservative base to which it is being marketed.

If you want a book full of real liberal lies, you can read my World Population book, which equates the traditional family with iniquity, mentions the 'unfortunate' denial of abortion 'rights' in some lands, and for no apparent reason, has quoted the Bible out of context at least six times in the first half I have read so far.

The better question is why do you care so much that your trying to persuade everyone on this board? Seriously are you just bashing the whole college experience or is there something else?

So far I can't see any real evidence that they actually teach this. Posting links to books is really like you telling us yourself because I could write a book about the lies I think the educational systems feed us and I wouldn't have a darn clue what is fact and what is not. Everyone has an opinion sometimes its true sometimes not but everyone has one. It all comes down to what WE choose to believe as FACT.
