What are your thoughts on this school? Is there anyone currently attending this school for their Bachelor degree than can provide some insight? I had my mind set on Bellevue University online and planned to begin this fall. I saw a classmate of mine that I've known for more than 15 years. She attended this school for her undergraduate degree and spoke very highly of them. I'm now doing some research and wanted some feedback as I value your opinion very highly. I have just about 60 credits and was looking at a bachelor degree in Human Resources OR Healthcare Management online. Yep - I'm still torn between the two.

Provided that you're talking about Northeastern University in Boston MA.

    1. Working class school. Spends a lot of money on IT infrastructure and the school probably has a good online program in the areas it offers one. (in terms of access to information).

    2. The faculty there was so so at the time I went there as a B&M student between 1991 and 2000. (yeah nine year plan whoo!!). It's probably the #8 or #9 school in Boston and is a lot of students' safety school in the area even now.

    3. However, the trade off is that with so many normal people going to the school it's got a pretty good alumni network if you choose to try and be a part of it. It's also a better name in my opinion than UoP or other purely online schools, though I wouldn't put the quality of education any higher than AMU or Capella.

Highly regarded. A VP in my company holds a BS from Northeastern.

Please note that the #8 or #9 school in Boston is equivalent to the #1 or #2 school in many other places in the USA.

+1 on that. I believe Northeastern is a Tier I research school. Also, last time I checked, Northeastern was ranked above Auburn and University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

Full disclosure: I am attending Northeastern and I have looked into Bellevue in the past.

Northeastern: Much higher status. Much more expensive (I am assuming based off what I know of the school), also AACSB accredited (which I think could possibly be relevant if OP goes the management route--maybe not though if looking to go the HR route).

Bellevue: Probably much cheaper, has a decent reputation (that I am aware of).

One other poster mentioned that Northeastern is more highly regarded than a UoP. Honestly, Northeastern shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence with UoP (in terms of reputation). I'm not saying UoP is bad, but the reputation between the schools is night and day. I also have to disagree with ITJD's post about the quality of education not being much higher than Capella or AMU. I have experience with both of those schools, and again, Northeastern is a MUUUUUUUCH richer educational experience than Capella or AMU. Again, both of those schools are decent and pretty rigorous in my opinion, just not up there with Northeastern.

Bottom line: If you want to save money and don't mind that many hiring officials won't have heard of your school (unless they are in the area near Bellevue), then go to Bellevue. If you want to go to a school with a little better chance of being recognized as a good school, go to Northeastern.

This is a good problem to have. Both are good schools with good reputations.

Northeastern is ranked #80 of the Tier 1 universities according to US News & World Reports.

And, I agree. Northeastern should not be mentioned in the same sentence with UoP, etc.

So true. In fact, I have heard nothing but excellent things about Northeastern from the general public, media, teachers and guidance councelsors. Boston just happens to be jam-packed with some of the best schools in the world.

For what its worth, I live within walking distance of what is considered one of worst regionally accredited schools in the entire country.

LOL, all I know about NCU is from what I have read on this board.

The school I am referring to is a B&M, and sorry, I will not reveal my location to the internet stalkers out there by mentioning which school it is :)

It's too late. Using IP address logging, triangulation and wire tapping we have found you. The hit squad is on it's way.

Having lived in Boston for several years I will say that I was impressed with the handful of alumni I interacted with. I had a co-worker that chose NU over Brown because of their five year undergrad program (full-time on campus students take five years to finish their bachelors degree b/c they require the students to work for two semesters to get real world experience). I feel the reputation of NU (and Suffolk to a lesser degree) suffer because there are so many great schools in the Boston metro area. You throw NU into the middle of almost any other US city and it is one of, if not the, best school there. In Boston it's 3rd tier because of Harvard, MIT, Tufts, Boston College and Boston University. In short, a very good school.
