Not a distance degree unless it's distance from birth. 94-year-old Hazel Soares earned her degree in Art History from Mills in California. California woman earns college diploma at age 94 - Yahoo! News Good job Hazel. P.S. I love the graduation cap.
Hazel isn't stopping there. Like other new graduates, now she intends to look for a job. She says that she'd like to work as a docent at a local museum. My guess is that she finds a part-time spot, whether paid or volunteer. The human-interest aspect is almost irresistible and she is qualified, after all. Employer's would know that she loves the subject.
Work in a museum...she is a museum at that age! I used to love to hear stories from my grandmother - it is like looking back in time through a persons eyes.
This woman is old enough to be my grandmother's mother This one gets a Bachelor's and I can't even teach my own how to use a DVD player .
Yes, Hazel DOES soar! What an inspiration to those of us (me!) looking 40 in the face and questioning the wisdom of embarking on a new degree at such an "old" age. This is being printed, and plastered on my frig
I thought I was sort of late to the game finally finishing my bachelors at 40. You are never too old to learn. Nice to see it wasn't an honorary degree also. She did earn it.
Exactly. That's why it took me so long going part-time for nine years. I always took 2 classes a semester while working full-time and always took at least one class over spring/summer, every spring/summer semester. I actually wanted to somewhat absorb what I was learning since it was costing a good amount of money to attend and not overburden myself. Many of these crazy kids on the other hand would also work full-time and take a full-time course load. They just wanted to be done to have the piece of paper and little else.
