    Posted on another site.

Looks like another limitation of NA degrees. What should the graduates do?

A while ago I emailed someone at DETC about the European problem with their accreditation, but besides a "I'll bring that up in the next meeting" nobody really seemed to care.

I have a friend who is an Aspen (DETC) graduate and he is studying in UK in Manchester for his Masters degree. So I'm not sure how often UK universities rely on NARIC.

I think its on case by case basis.
He had his transcript sent directly to UK University for admissions.

Did you write to M. Lambert?

One would think that NA universities would like to get overseas students and increase their recognition around the world.

It is in the best interest of NA institutions.

A while ago I applied to a couple of universities in France and the UK with a DETC Bachelor's degree (CIE-WC) and never had a problem. They also didn't ask for NARIC.

So I think its fair to assume that NA degree holders may encounter the same issues they do in US.

There are RA universities and some employers who will not accept NA degrees and in Europe and other countries may be the same in some it can be more accepted while others less accepted etc.

Lerner Do you have the name of the UK university that needed the NARIC eval. ?
Up to now I haven't heard of any European University refusing a DETC Degree...
If it is the case it would be important to get the information directly from the institutions.

Actually the requesting institution was City and Guilds.
The person was evaluated for entry in to qualification on level that requires a equivalent of US AS degree comparable level for entry.

The administrator at City and Guilds wasn't sure if DETC accredited AAS degree was level 4 or level 5 on the UK qualification framework.

Another person applied to University of Liverpool residential program, he had
US NA accredited degree it was ITT Bachelors degree.
UoL requested that he bring NARIC evaluation.

These are the two instances that I know.

All other people whom I know with DETC or other NA accredited degree had no problems with their degree. One has Aspen degree and the other has Cal National University for Advanced Study Degree, both had no problem to get in to a grad school in UK.

This is kind of worrying for me as my country follows the UK system :(
