I would like to take a class or two during the winter break. Does anyone know where I could take some online undergraduate winter classes. I know it will be intense but I'm up for the challege as I did it before.

Have you considered earning credit vis CLEP or DSST during the winter break?

Yep! This is a local college, and I have taken one - lots of my friends/students have too. When you do a search, search for "minimester" and you'll pull up the full list- some (not all) are online. www.bhc.edu
I think my class- Contemporary Social Problems had 1 text book and total cost was about $300 +/- and was 14 days or so. BTW, it wasn't a hard or intense course, actually I'd consider it an easy 3 credits if you need anything in sociology. Oh, and registration fills quick, so you'll have to decide asap.

Unfortunately, that is not an option for me. There is one University here (I reside in the Caribbean) and I looked into this last week. The CLEP software apparently did not load well and they have no idea when the IT department will resolve this problem. :(. Oh well... I am going to FL in Feb. and intend to take two while I'm there. So I'm looking into taking a winter class or two if I can. The school that I attended before Herkimer County Community College offers quite a few during the winter break but they are over $700 per class. So if I can find it cheaper... it will be the better route.

Can you have the local university contact the College Board for a Paper Based CLEP? They are available for military members.

    Hi,

They are very slow in doing things unfortunately. I'll just take the test when I go to FL in Feb. If its taken care of before I go... I'll try and do it here.

It sounds like you could study for two or three CLEP/DSST tests between now and February when you visit Florida. The CLEP/DSST websites provide course content, typical questions and applicable text books. What you save over class enrollment might pay for your Florida trip.

Thanks Ian, I will certainly try the FL options and hope it works out.
