Does anyone have experience with Everest College Phoenix?

I was wondering if anyone teaches for them and can comment on whether or not they require their students to take "general ed" courses, e.g. psych 101 and similar. I can't for the life of me find a course list on their website, just general course areas. I'm trying to figure out if it's worth applying to them. Any information or a link to their specific course listings would be appreciated. Thanks!

 

I teach for Everest and they are great. They treat the instructors very well and have never had any issues after 3 years. I do think students are required to take gen ed classes.

 

I was just contacted a few days ago by the phoenix everest. It seems like they are sending out a mass email for all those who applied to fill out their interview and to pick and choose who they want. It can't hurt to apply and see if you are one of the ones they will be interested in, but I know I applied many months ago so they must be just getting to all the applications.

Is this the same Everest College that has facilities in eleven Southern California locations (www.everestlearn.com) and in several other states/
They had a big ad in Sunday's Los Angeles Times.

In the same LA Times section there was an ad for Irvine Univerity, a state approved school. They offer a JD degree program that requires an AA degree for admittance!!!!!

 

Is this also the same Everest that has those annoying, patronizing commercials that play all the dang time on TV?

It may be a great place to teach, but considering their promotional methods I wouldn't choose to attend there.

 

I know there have NA schools and an RA school. Don't know about the law school.

 

State-approved non-ABA law schools in California require 60 credit hours prior to admission to the law school. This requirement seems to be mandated by the agency that oversees the Baby Bar if I recall correctly.

I sent my "I'm interested" stuff and they responded quickly requesting vita, transcripts, documentation etc without included important information I'm looking for.

Can anyone reflect upon pay, expectation, format for Everest College Phoenix before I spend time filling all of this out and cash having my transcripts sent.

I should have read my email more carefully. Pay is $1645 for a 12 week course. Doesn't say how many students that is and when courses are in pairs (like Axia tends to be).

I did google Everest and I have some concerns; they've got a number of complaints of fraud. Not sure I want the risk of being faculty at a place like that...

 

Scumbags of the "technically legit" DL world. Hosed me for 10 grand, but I don't wanna get into it. Might be ok to work there, but I wouldn't recommend it for students.

 

I have tried repeatedly to submit my resume, questionnaire, transcripts, etc, that were requested, but it seems that half the world must have beaten me to it because the guy's mailbox is full.

 

I submitted last night and was contacted this morning about scheduling an interview. My emails were bouncing back when I submitted all the requested documents at once. When I sent them one at a time, they all went through and I heard back immediately.

 

Hmm. Not sure what I think. The faculty recruiter appeared to be calling me from his cellphone while brushing his teeth while driving through an underground tunnel.

I am expecting a call from an Associate Dean. After that, its a "free" 4 week training course. Then...

Everest $1625 for 12 weeks and 25 students $5.42 /student /week
Everest 4 sets of 4 courses at a time max = 16 courses = $26k

in comparison:

UOP $1235 for 9 weeks and 18 students $7.62 /student /week
UOP 9 sets of 4 courses at a time max = 36 courses = almost $45k

and where I used to teach:

Liberty $2100 for 8 weeks and 25 students $10.50 /student /week
Liberty 5 sets of 4 courses at a time = 20 courses = $42k

Disclaimer:
I don't teach online "full time." Currently I do 2 UOP at a time when I need to in order to pay for PhD classes.

 

For those who had the initial phone interview with the recruiter, how long did it take before you heard from the dean of curriculum for the second interview? I am wondering if I should email the original guy and ask since I was never given a specific date for the second.

 

Anyone teaching with them now? I have my interview with a dean today.
