I received notification that I have successfully finished my requirements for a bachelor's degree from Ashford University. A twenty eight year journey finally ended. Onto my MBA next!

Congratulations. It does not matter how long the journey, but that you completed it is what really counts.

I am going to stay with Ashford for the MBA. Their price is not too bad and I can finish it in about 15 months as they offer one class at a time in six week increments.

Congratulations! I know good that must feel. I finaly completed my AA at age 40. Now at age 41 I am three classes shy of completing the BA. I expect to be finished before the end of this year and am looking forward to all the pats on the back, just like you're getting now. :)

I am not sure that it has totally sunk in just yet. After so many years of going without obtaining a degree, you start to accept the fact that you might never have one. Without the benefit of online education, I still would not have gotten a degree. Thanks to the technology of the day and to those schools who have opened up this type of opportunity to those of us cannot stop our lives and go to a traditional school. Best of luck to you to you with your B.A. as December is not that far off.

Congrats! I didn't take a break either. I was afraid if I took one I would never start my masters.

Outstanding! I earned my B.S. at 40, and savor it to this day - I hope you do the same. Congratulations on a well earned achievment.

Well done, Mr. Creighton. I think the first one is really the most satisfying, whenever in life it comes. (The others ain't bad either.)

I am usually pretty good at remembering names, even if I don't recall the context in which they came into my life . . . but I do have a clear memory of degree discussions with a Richard Creighton perhaps 20+ years ago . . . and I'm visualizing some elegant stationery on which his letters were sent. Any connection?

    Best regards from
    John Bear

Hmmm, Not that I recall. Twenty years ago, I was living in Southern California; Glendale to be exact. I had wanted to finish my degree back then but, with work hours getting in the way and the Internet not being a known entity or possibility back then, there seemed to be no way to accomplish that.
