Okay, that was a cheap trick to get people to read this…but I need suggestions. I am working on my dissertation proposal and focusing on the literature review. My topic is communication satisfaction with remote employees and the relationship to managers meeting the expected frequency of communication. I have a boatload of information on employee satisfaction, customer satisfaction, employee motivation, employee communication, managing remote employees, and neuro-linguistic programming. I plan to add socio-linguistics and the unique needs of male vs. female and different cultures for communication. Does anyone have any suggested readings for: The expectations of communication for male vs. female The expectations of communication for different cultures Any books, articles, dissertations, or websites with information would be helpful. Thanks.
I searched for the expectations of communication for different cultures in Google Scholar and up came a bunch of references.
I always like to start with UMI Proquest. This dissertation sounds very similar to your proposed work: Context and leadership in the remote environment by Kelley, Elizabeth, Ph.D., Saint Mary's University (Canada), 2005, 264 pages; AAT NR03071 On the two specifc topics how about: expectations of communication for male vs. female The effect of gender on decoding accuracy for deceptive and nondeceptive expectancy-based vocal nonverbal cues by Epps, Pamela Jean, Ph.D., Emory University, 1989, 112 pages; AAT 8924677 EFFECTS OF PROFANITY, INTERPERSONAL TOUCH, AND SEX OF THE COMMUNICATOR ON PERCEPTIONS OF THE COMMUNICATOR AND BEHAVIORAL COMPLIANCE by PHILLIPS, MINDY STERN, Ph.D., Hofstra University, 1985, 180 pages; AAT 8523276 expectations of communication for different cultures A roles approach to conflict strategy: Modeling the effects of self- and other-role enactment on conflict strategies through goals and emotion by Xie, Xiaoying, Ph.D., University of Maryland, College Park, 2009, 306 pages; AAT 3359434 Communicative feedback and its influence on leadership in a rural school setting by Zamorano, Debora Buchaim Regos, Ed.D., The University of Texas at El Paso, 2008, 285 pages; AAT 3341659 Inclusion of diverse population: A phenomenological study by Usowicz, Ewa, D.M., University of Phoenix, 2008, 166 pages; AAT 3338357 Discourse indicators of culture in online courses by Gazi, Yakut, Ph.D., Texas A&M University, 2007, 209 pages; AAT 3270336
While this is on the same line, I have a different twist. Mine will be quantitative and I will include a measure of expected communication / actual communication and examine the relationship between that ratio and scores on the Communication Satisfaction Quesionnaire.
