    Hello, all.

I know there have been some recent threads on master's in history degree programs that could be done entirely online. I would like to ask if anyone, however, knows of specific online courses in the following...must be for graduate credit:

    1. History of the Enlightenment
    2. 18th and 19th Century Europe
    3. World War I
    4. World War II
    5. Modern European History

Thanks! By the way, I know about American Public University System. :)

    Ted,

Thanks for your incredible suggestions and knowledge. As always, you came through beyond my expectations.

I suppose I am directing this to you since you are so knowledgeable about the other history courses:

I know of the historiography course at American Public University System, but I can't seem to find any other online courses simply titled Historiography. Do you know of any? I have searched and come up short!

    Thank you, again.

WNMU has a course listed in their catalog called "History and Historians" and the course description is very similar to that of APU's. I haven't seen them offer it yet though. :-(

I know the University of Delaware has a variety of historiography courses that the PHD students take, but they are NOT via distance. Because online history programs are limited, I suppose the historiography courses are as well.

    basru,

In its online MA program requirements Western Kentucky states the following:

    WKU online MA

    "Program Requirements

The M.A. in History offers students flexibility in the course work they pursue by encouraging that the program for each individual be built around areas of interest. The History Department offers two graduate programs leading to the Master of Arts degree.

“Plan A” (Thesis Option) requires 24 hours of course work plus a 6 credit-hour thesis.
“Plan B” (Non-Thesis Option) requires 36 hours of course work.
All students must take HIST 535: Historiography.
All students must demonstrate competence in a research tool. In order to fulfill this requirement, students may pass a foreign language proficiency exam or take certain courses that develop research skills.
To learn about course offerings and other program requirements, and to build a program that’s right for you, please contact the History Department’s Graduate Program Advisor, Eric Reed ([email protected])."

I recommend you contact the POC and ask about the HIST 535 course. I couldn't find it posted in their schedules but since it is a requirement my assumption would be they offer it on a rotational basis.

    Best of luck.

California State University Dominguez Hill's historiography course is known as HUX 501: Defining the Humanities: History. When I took the course in Spring 1998, the main textbook was Carl Gustavson's _A Preface to History_.
