Hello everyone, I have done some undergraduate coursework (completed 5 semesters). Can I include this in my CV, or does it look stupid?
Stupid or not, it's on my CV (but not on my resume). Here is a copy/paste Black Hawk College, Moline, IL Credit. Undergraduate Transfer Coursework. 2007 • GPA 4.0 out of 4.0 University of Iowa, Iowa City, IA Credit. Undergraduate Transfer Coursework. 1992 • GPA 3.7 out of 4.0
I think the master cook has a point: resume - NO; CV - Maybe. Unless you list it as "transfer," I think it would open more questions than might be worth. For instance, since I only completed about 1/4 of the coursework for an MDiv, I would never list that on a CV or resume.
For a CV, think comprehensive. You would include every jot and tittle of everything you ever published, presented, etc. A resume, on the other hand, should be one-page, scannable, and directed along the lines of your specific occupational objective.
In some parts of the world, it is. In the US however a CV is usually much longer and more detailed. It is generally used to apply for academic or research positions. A resume is about 1 or 2 pages and use for most jobs. If you have a masters, I wouldn't bother putting undergrad coursework on a resume, but that's just me.
Since this is the last day of school (yay...too many snow days) and I have administered, graded, and posted all my finals and/or grades, I have a lot of time to read in this forum. To include undergrad or not, really depends upon the type of resume. Certainly those with no experience might chronicle the depth/breadth of their education to present competency. Otherwise, I think there is only utility in listing what one has finished, as opposed to "undergraduate studies in xxx."
I would add the "additional studies in xxx" as part of the cover letter but not the resume. For a CV, I would include it under education.
>> My resume is always 1 page, no matter how many experiences I accumulate. My CV is 7 and growing. Even though I have had the same employer for 17 years, supposing I were to apply somewhere else- industry would get my resume, academic jobs would get my CV. If I accidental sent my CV to a restaurant, it would ruin my street cred
>> oh man, I wanted to come up with a really cool rap for you, but the only "wrap" I know is comes with chips and a pickle.
you can keep it if you are undergoing the course now also. In resume you can mention as course not completed status........
