New to the group - pleased to meet you, and looking forward to contributing at some point.

I scrolled through all posts (I think), but could not find the information I seek. I have an MBA, and I want to pusue the cheapest, fully-accredited online DBA or PhD - Business.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thx.

The ones that readily come to mind include:

From the Great State of Alabama: Columbia Southern University www.columbiasouthern.edu offers a DBA by distance learning. On another board, it has been announced that Andrew Jackson University www.aju.edu will be offering an online DBA (and it will be sponsored).

From the Great State of Arizona: Northcentral University www.ncu.edu offers both the DBA and the PhD in Business Administration via DL. The University of Phoenix www.phoenix.edu offers both the DM and the DBA via DL.

From the Great State of California: TUI University www.tuiu.edu offers the PhD in Business Administration online. California Intercontinental University www.caluniversity.com offers the DBA via DL.

From the Great State of Colorado: Colorado Technical University www.ctuonline.edu offers the short-residency DM. Jones International University www.international.edu offers the DBA largely via DL.

From the Great State of Florida: The University of Florida www.ufl.edu has a short-residency DBA in the planning stages. Nova Southeastern University www.nova.edu offers their DBA in a short-residency format.

From the Great State of Illinois: Argosy University www.argosy.edu offers the short-residency DBA.

From the Great State of Indiana: Indiana State University www.indstate.edu serves as the lead school for a short-residency PhD in Technology Management.

From the Great State of Maryland: The University of Maryland University College www.umuc.edu offers the short-residency DM.

From the Great State of Michigan: Baker College www.baker.edu is now offering DBA degrees via DL. Lawrence Technological University www.ltu.edu offers a short-residency DM.

From The Great State of Minnesota: Capella University www.capella.edu offers a short-residency PhD in Organization & Management with several concentrations. Walden University www.waldenu.edu has for many years offered the short-residency PhD in Applied Management & Decision Sciences with several concentrations; they now offer the short-residency DBA as well.

From the Great State of Nebraska: Bellevue University www.bellevue.edu now offers the PhD in Human Capital Management via DL.

From the Great State of Ohio: Case Western Reserve University www.cwru.edu offers the DM in executive format.

From the Great State of Oregon: George Fox University www.georgefox.edu offers a short-residency DM.

Thanks for the replies so far - one problem with CSU...

seems to be that they are not accredited by the regional association of colleges and schools. This is important, right? I ultimately want to teach at the university level, so I need to make the right decisions now pertaining to proper accreditation.

Thanks in advance for setting me straight. :)

You will not be able to get a job teaching at the university level with a NA doctorate.

One of the more affordable Ph.D/DBA programs I've seen is through the University of Strathclyde in the UK. It has triple crown accreditation (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA). Very few universities have all three business accreditation. I'm not aware of anyone of this board who has applied to do a Strathclyde doctorate, but the university does advertise that their doctorates may be done at a distance.

CSU ... meaning Columbia Southern University? They are accredited by the Distance Education & Training Council, which is national accreditation, which is legitimate accreditation but less prestigious than regional accreditation. Note: Andrew Jackson University and California Intercontinental University are also DETC, not by their respective RAs.

    Na?

I'm sorry - what does "NA" mean? Thanks.

    NA = National Accredited
    RA = Regional Accredited

Also, Kennesaw State University offers DBA via distance learning.

You should note that if you're planning on teaching at the uni level it may also be useful to complete a program that is aacsb accredited. Suffice to say, the detc programs are not aacsb. For that matter, neither were the RA schools mentioned this far (excepting strath and case western I believe)

Ignore my last sentence above...I hadn't read through all of the schools/programs listed herein.

Long and short: if you're looking to teach, you should look for regional accreditation as well as AACSB accreditation. Academia is a bit ....silo'd....with their accreditation lens.

They do tell this "We do not offer a distance-learning programme." on their website.

    skip to 5th paragraph

Yes, but you missed the sentence right before that. It reads:

"Part time students are required to be present in the Department for at least 10 days per year."

Strathclyde used to openly advertise that part-time students did not need to be present on campus to complete their doctoral programs. With the exception of the limited residency, this still seems to be the case. The only thing that has changed is the wording.

If you're looking to teach at the university level, I would recommend a doctorate that is AACSB accredited. There are a few programs like this in Europe that offer external research options.

The University of Florida is AACSB www.aacsb.edu. Does anyone know what happened to their proposed short-residency DBA?
Nova Southeastern University www.nova.edu is in candidacy for AACSB.
    Grenoble www.grenoble-em.com is AACSB.

There are, if I recall correctly, at least two other AACSB DBA programs in Europe (other than Grenoble). Can someone name them for me?
