Does anyone know how long it takes for a proctored exam to be graded by Penn Foster? Just curious since I took mine about 2 weeks ago.

When I took my final exams, it took about 2-4 weeks to receive the results. It took about 4 weeks to receive my initial grades. I failed two exams, and had to do the re-take, which I passed. It took about 2 weeks to receive those grades. Check your student portal daily, because the grades are posted there first, and they don't email you to tell you they are posted. Your grades will also be sent to you by snail mail, but at a much later date.

    Good luck!

Thanks TCord. I hate to be negative, but I'm pretty sure I failed the Physical Science final. 10 problems...so 6 minutes to do each, and I am so lousy at the formulas etc.

I am already studying for the DSST Environment...test. Will take it in mid-May at a San Antonio college.

I need 3 Natural Science/Math credits to finish my Associates at Excelsior.

PF final grade in: Ace transcript question

My grade is showing up on my page now. My grade in the class ended up being a 72. I am disappointed in one way, but glad I passed the class. That being said..with PF's grading, if they use letter grades, that looks like it'll be a D. Do they use letter grades or your actual grade? And as per ACE transcript, will they put a "D" on the Ace transcript or "Passing"? D is passing at PF.

    Just curious.

I think the transcript will reflect the number grade, not the letter grade. They compute something called "quality points" which is similar the the 4.00 grading system, at least on my transcript.

Nana, depending on your educational goals you could have your transcript sent over to ACE and have them send that to your transferring school. If you plan to transfer somewhere you could have a simple pass instead of a grade.

    Excelsior let's you do this.

Thanks for the help you both have given. If I can't use this grade as Passing for my Excelsior credits, I'll move on and take the CLEP Biology or the DSST Environment etc test.

If your are transferring to EC then you can definitely use it as a pass/fail if you send it through ACE first.

Penn Foster College A.S. Medical Assistant degree

I am thinking of enrolling in this program. How would I know for sure if this particular A.S. is DETC accredited? The reason for my asking is because a friend of mine recently took an A.S. degree from a nationally accredited DL college only to find out at the end that the degree is not accredited. Meaning to say, a DL college could be DETC accredited but that accreditation may only be applicable to some of their programs and not to all.

    update

Penn Foster refused to send it to ACE as a passing grade because I made a 72, which on their list is a "D" (though it says passing in their policy handbook).

I took courses at PFC last year and they show up as Letter Grades on my transcript. You can also have your grades posted to an ACE transcript by using ACE transcript services (I did this online; I never interacted with PFC).
You can find out about that here: http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Transcript_Services1&Template=/TaggedPage/TaggedPageDisplay.cfm&TPLID=50&ContentID=17072

Ace Transcripts the completed courses as "Credit" which consequently "launders" your letter grade. Here's a sample transcript: http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cfm?Section=Transcript_Services1&TEMPLATE=/CM/ContentDisplay.cfm&CONTENTID=10359

I used the ACE Transcript services. Then I got an email from Penn Foster saying they would deny my request. PF email said that I had not passed the class because I did not receive an "above D grade". I noted that on page 14 of their handbook they state that a D is "passing".

Interesting. I think I would email the Business and Industrial division and show them the policy in the handbook. I think that it really sucks that they aren't following their own policy.

I was thinking the same thing.

You may need to find out what PF's and ACE's policy is on transfers. At all of the colleges that I attended, a "D" is passing, but only a grade of "C" or better would transfer. Also, even though a "D" was a passing grade, the GPA of the student had to be 2.0 or better at all times or they were placed on probation/could not graduate.

    A 70-75 on their scale is a "D", but is Passing. Above 75 is a "C".

In my mail yesterday was a letter from the very same Chief Academic Officer that emailed me that she could not send a Passing to ACE for my transcript. It's a letter congratulating me on successfully completing the course; and how I'll be granted official credit for the courses covered by the proctored examination. And I'll get my transcript soon.

My question now is if I pass a couse according to a college's scaling chart, is that not a "Pass" for ACE?

Well, I don't intend to enter into a degree program at Penn Foster. I took Information Literacy and got a 98 (was transferred to Excelsior) and I took Physical Science to "hopefully" get my 3 hours needed to finish my Associates at Excelsior. I am upset, of course, that I made a 72 and not at least a 75 to get a "C". I am not going to retake the proctored test at PF. Formulas etc are very hard for me (timed, especially) and I'm not going to pay them more money to retake the final exam.

I am scheduled to take the DSST Environment test in early May.
