Does any one know of a good recognized Distance learning MBA institution in Canada or USA where I can pay maximum $10,000 (USD) for an MBA program?

Unless you qualify for in-state tuition, $10,000 will be difficult (for a GOOD and recognized MBA degree)...

But it depends what you mean by 'good'...

By "good" and "recognized" I assume you mean a regionally accredited institution that most people know either because of its academic or athletic reputation. There are 1 or 2 schools in this category in the $10k range, but only if you qualify for in state tuition. I think Oklahoma State's MBA is roughly $10k, but only if you live in Oklahoma.

If by "good" and "recognized" you mean a regionally accredited school with an established campus presence, you have options that can be found on the geteducated.com links already posted above.

Does DETC count? If so Andrew Jackson Uni.

Columbia Southern is DETC accredited and roughly 9k. www.columbiasouthern.edu.

If I wasn't in the process of making a switch to education I would have changed to an AACSB certified school, even though I think the certification is overrated.

Instead of CSU, Amberton University is RA for less than $9K ($8100). http://www.amberton.edu/

I am afraid AJU is not well recognized, not to mention some limitations that a DETC degree has.

I agree for the most part Vin, RA is a must for areas where there is a great deal of competition. In smaller, rural areas, a DETC MBA works great.

I really like Columbia Southern, but before I spent 9K on any DETC accredited MBA, I'd look at Amberton ($8100), Chadron State ($7100), Columbia College ($10,400), or North Alabama ($10,400). All are regionally accredited and all will give you far greater utility down the road.

California State University Dominguez Hiils has an online MBA; tuition starts at $12,000 (may be higher depending on specialty). Also they require prerequisites.

Here is an alternate to an MBA offered by California State University Bakersfield:
    http://www.csub.edu/msaonline/
(note: 45 quarter units = 30 semester units)
Tuition $110 to $160 per quarter unit.
Degree then costs in the range of $4950 to $7200.

Since the US dollar is gaining strength US degrees are getting more expensive for non-USA residents.

Wow, that's really inexpensive...and potentially quick (9 courses). What kind of career options do you think are available with a MSA? How do you think that looks on a resume (Master of Science in Administration)?

You know, as washed out as MBA's are today, that might not be too bad. You might get more questions about your studies by a potential employer who has already seen X,000 MBA applicants.

Last week I met with a client I have known for 20 years and who earned an MBA from Pepperdine several years ago (he already had a BS and MS in engineering). He just landed a great job as a program manager with an aerospace company; I asked him if his MBA helped him land the job. His response was "no, past job experience is what counted." This just reinforces my belief that degrees, for experienced professionals, are less important than what you can do for a company.

Degree could edge out a few insecurities in mind

however it is the performance that will get him or her climb ladders in the end.

True, but it would have been another note if that job would have required the education regardless of experience, the approach is; better have it and don't need it, than needed it and don't have it!

How about this route for the cheapest MBA on Earth, OP!

enroll in an Indian university that has a study center in USA(i.e. if you live in US), knock off a year, get the credits transferred by AACRO or whatever thats called, and then complete the required remaining credits through an accelerated MBA online and end up spending only about $2500. One of my friends did that. He flew to India to knock off 3 years in Bachelors and then transfered his credits and then did the required credits through a US based RA school. He spent just $4000 for a RA bachelor's degree. Same could apply for a Masters as well I am sure. (This advice is for the OP alone)

my advice is not so easy, I know

as one needs to be aware of the timing when the exams start to plan a trip to India if needed.

I completely agree, but I'm still curious as to how the Master of Science in Administration would be perceived.
