Has anybody here ever taken online classes at the Univ. of Central Florida? I was just looking over the tuition rates...the undergraduate per credit-hour fee for non-residents is $647.56 !? http://www.iroffice.ucf.edu/character/current_tuition.html As opposed to the Florida resident fee which is only $131.58. Is this correct or is there a special rate across the board for their online programs?
Seems a bit high for online programs. See here http://www.ce.ucf.edu/professional/nonprofit/faq.asp#cost for tuition for the University of Central Florida's online Master of Nonprofit Management. Which program were you interested in?
While I don't know about UCF, I do know that Florida public schools such as UWF and USF provide tuition waivers the brings the cost near the in-state price for people doing programs wholly online.
Ted, I was looking into the B.S Information Systems program as seen here--> http://www.cdl.ucf.edu/catalog/ But that price just seems a little rediculous.
You will see this is a common practice among other universities to stiff out of state students: http://www.geteducated.com/online-college-ratings-and-rankings/best-buy-lists/best-buy-online-masters-mba-aacsb
It is very common, because most state schools are mainly funded by state taxpayer dollars and therefore they give a "discount" to those who are in-state and thus supporting the state school via (hefty) sales, property and/or excise taxes. When schools give out-of-state students tuition breaks, that is good news. Florida has one of the highest surcharges that I've seen.
