Not the PQ but the Post Doctoral, I was interested in taking the Post doc in Finance and Accounting. I contacted few schools and they mentioned that they would consider the Post Doc in Finance and Accounting instead of the PhD in Finance and Accounting. It seems to be a legit program that is accepted by many schools.

I'm clueless about the business field, which I sense is unlike many other academic subjects. But in those other departments, employers are often looking for people with research experience and expertise in particular areas of interest to them.

In the sciences, post-doctoral positions are typically paid non-DL positions that give new doctors the opportunity to participate in exciting research projects that will fatten their research resumes and perhaps attract employers' interest.

I'm not sure that RFValve's "postdoctoral certificate" is the same kind of animal that scientists are referring to when they say "postdoc". If it's offered by DL and is coursework-based, then it would have to be substantially different. It's starting to sound like it's something unique to business.

Not the same, this is mainly a career change program. It gives the opportunity to change fields if you already have a doctorate degree. I have a business doctorate already but wanted to change to the accounting and finance field, this program seems to allow this. My only problem is that not all the schools recognize this program so its utility is limited, only few schools that I contacted knew about the program although most of them mentioned that they would consider a doctorate in another field provided that you have enough publications in the area. In few words, one could be qualified to teach accounting and finance if you can prove that you are a qualified researcher in the area, however, it is hard to publish something if you don't have enough background so the bridge can help for this but for a pricey sum of $25000.

The program is interesting and could be an option if an employer or government grant pays for this.

At a recent AACSB training, they said this option was a success. I asked my Dean (has huge connections and also goes to AACSB events). The answer was they have never seen an applicant. I am curious how a person with this would fare against others. No data out yet that I can find.

Success as in many people are signing up and they are making money or a success as in many people are completing the program and getting FT AQ positions?

Fund this one that actually calls for people with a doctoral bridge

It seems that the people with the bridge can get opportunities in fields in demand such accounting and finance.

Good question, I didn't make the distinction at the time.

Great point, with the Actg and Fin area in such great demand, lots of spots go unfilled, this would be an area that it may be a great fit.

If I knew I could get into the UF Bridge for Finance and get a job at USF teaching Finance, I would do it in. But,like anything in life there is no guarantees. Would they will even take it serious?

I would go in and ask the Dean/Chair. I know we have open positions each year that don't get filled in Actg and fin. We would take a candidate AQ I would think (as long as they were publishing). I would go and ask.
