RA candidate? Good Morning, Could Aspen receive RA status in the next two years? Looking for the transfer opportunity of grad credits but DETC is out. Many thanks. Hille
Transfer Credit with NLN or CCNE approval. Hille, Not sure on the RA status, but since the thread was geared originally towards CCNE (Nursing program) accredidation ONLY. If you are looking to transfer the nursing graduate level credits to another school, most Regionally accredited nursing schools require National League of Nursing (NLNAC) or CCNE approval in order to receive transfer credit and Aspen Universities MSN program now meets that requirement. http://www.bethelcollege.edu/academics/graduate/nursing/certificates.php EXAMPLE-1: "Further to meet the desires and needs of nurses who may have graduated from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited school of nursing." http://catalog.indstate.edu/preview_entity.php?catoid=8&ent_oid=394&bc=1 EXAMPLE-2: "A baccalaureate degree in nursing from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission or equivalent accreditation association." I hope this helps.
Aspen is in the great state of Colorado, which is NCA territory. If Aspen were interested in RA, the NCA is the most generous of the regionals when it comes to conferring accreditation upon purely online schools.
Very true, but even if Aspen applied to the NCA tomorrow, I doubt there would be time to achieve accreditation within 2 years.
Does anyone remember how long it was between AMU's application for RA through NCA and their actual receipt of NCA accreditatrion?
I know they are looking at RA and have at least considered it. As to if it remains in their strategic plan and to the timing, it will certainly be a while. I think part of the challenge here is that many of the older DETC schools feel a real loyalty to that agency. Having attended the conference earlier this year, I can attest firsthand that there is a real strong sense of community and collaboration with the DETC accredited schools. This space is a lot more than the often characterized ambitious climb to check “better” boxes.
