You could earn 18 hours thru the WNMU MA program

A possibility... but specific classes are not offered very often. Moreover, exit exam or thesis is a little too sticky for interdisciplinary studies program, and burns more time... Also, I really need the work to be officially in a MS or MA Psychology program for this project. Thanks though.

I'm working on getting into this program at New Mexico State University.

    MA in Psych.

It has a concetraion in Human Factors which piqued my interest. You do need the GRE for admission but the program has some very interesting courses.

Tuition is low like all NM state schools.

Emergency! Emergency! Is there a merchant-scholar in the house? ;-)

It seems there is a very real opportunity for an inexpensively priced RA DL Masters degree in Psychology. I bet it would sell like hotcakes!

    Hi Dave,

I believe that the post directly above yours, lists a program that fits the bill.

With this credential you may be able to obtain occasional work as an expert witness. I talked to one following a "slip and fall" jury trial I was on - pay was $200 per hour (and that was a few years ago).

I was looking more into Human Computer Interaction or Human Systems Interaction, ergonomics basically. But, once again reality sets in.

Getting an MA in this field and having no experience in it will get me absolutely no where in the job market. This is a remarkably interesting field none the less and I may still pursue the degree for personal reasons because it interest me so much.

Possibly. The website is somewhat obtuse about the particulars.

I'm surprised though that somebody like APU hasn't drilled into the problem with a $275 per hour MS Psychology. Could be a huge money maker...

I have a friend of mine looking for a masters in psychology via DL. Even though I guided her to a few good schools she really wants name recognition (RA also). To make things even more difficult she wants it to be in Forensic Psych (1st choice) followed by Abnormal Psych (Second choice). She's currently in a B&M masters in CJ. I actually thought of suggesting that if she's looking for name recognition she could transfer into another CJ masters that has concentrations in forensic psych...but I think she wants to use the degree to practice so I guess licensing would be an issue. What say you all? Any school suggestions?

Dave was prescient :) Coming this January from APU: Master of Arts in Psychology, 39 credits x $300/credit = $11,700

Not, however, particularly "prestigious" (re soupbone's post) even though most of what I've heard about APU has been good things ... I even applied there myself before chickening out. :)

APU/AMU has just rolled out an online MA in Psychology. Tuition for the 39 credit program is $11,700. This is by far the cheapest option out there for an online RA MA/MS in Psychology.

The program is listed as being ready, yes, but the courses are not, according to the admission requirements page: "Note: Courses in the Psychology program will not be available until January 2011." MA in Psychology Admission Requirements - APUS I guess people can enroll in the program now and start taking courses but they will need to wait until Jan 2011 to start the core psych requirements.

The big question will be . . . Will this degree make you eligible for licensure where you live. Inexpensive is good but only if it works.
