Sorry, I couldn't resist asking. I am doing just that. I should be working on my dissertation, yet I keep checking in here all the time!

All right, I'll try to get back to work now.... Cheers..

Funny you ask, I was just thinking that I need to work on my paper and decided to check the board first...now I am responding further delaying writing the paper!

I am interested, well at least curious, in knowing what other boards or forums people here also participate in. My hypothesis is that we are a wildly diverse bunch of humans who just happen to overlap in a tiny little at a distance discussion forum. But for all I know, this topic could be the main online thing people here do, and that they also dip into other distance and online education forums, legitimate (that would be here, degreediscussion.com, and the sometimes intriguing registrars' ListServe, perhaps among others) and otherwise (to see what the bad guys are saying).

John Bear, who participates in two folk dance forums, one on electric cars, one on electric bicycles, one for friends of people with online game addiction, one on the bestseller phenomenon, and one on recipes.

Besides here, I can be found on forums dedicated to law enforcement, firearms, space exploration, and military (especially naval) history.

Everytime I buy a new BMW, I participate on Bimmerfest for a while, just to see how the new owners are dealing with whatever anomalies arise. But that's about it.

I'm trying to cut down on my forum postings but I have been heavy into baby, slings, and cloth diaper forums.

Not so much this one but yes, I used forums to procrastinate. I've noticed that my overall forum participation has decreased on my other boards since finishing up the latest degree a few months ago.

    No kids? :D

I started frequenting other boards when my kids were babies; my wife and I slept in shifts, and there isn't much else to do at 4am except fart around on the Internet.

Yes, I procrastinate here. The main other board I frequent (besides the classes I teach) is www.celiac.com, which is for those who have celiac disease (like I do) or are gluten-intolerant. I lurk on the CHE forums too and sometimes ask online teaching questions.

Thanks for the collegiality, fellow procrastinators! I threw a couple of hours at my chapter and have a decent draft finished. Now it's time for some R&R! Have a great weekend. Cheers..

Procrastinate here? A lot more than I should.

I also read the forums at eLearners.com (where I also write a blog, not that I'm shilling it here or anything), degreediscussion, and IMDB, because I'm a huge movie buff. I have spent many late nights reading degreeinfo and the above mentioned sites. Hey, it beats watching TV.

I'm a moderator over on elearners.com, (scary huh?) and I can also be found on firearms forums such as www.thehighroad.org, I can be found on motorcycle forums, specifically those relating to Kawasaki Ninjas, I can be found on musician forums, such as Harmony Central and lastly I can be found on the occasional police forums in which I often read and rarely comment.

No kids and no interest in having any! I try to stay off the forums except this one. I visited a Yahoo group for Rubik's Speed Cubers a few times but that was it.

    I definitely procrastinate here.

Here are the boards I visit, I will only visit high traffic boards in most cases because I like a tremendous amount of fresh posts, but Degreeinfo is one of my favorites even though it does not fit into that category.

Mixed Martial Arts (THIS BOARD HAS SO MANY POSTERS POSTING ON IT AND ITS VARIOUS SUB FORUMS ABOUT OTHER TOPICS IT IS REDICULOUS)

http://www.mixedmartialarts.com - The Underground and the Otherground forums. (you literally hit refresh and almost all the thread titles listed change it is such a busy forum)

Comic Book Forums - Comic Book Resource Forum

http://forums.comicbookresources.com/ - Huge amount of people post here about every type of comic and graphic novels, very well organized.

Information technology, Telecommunications, Information Security, Careers in IT, etc.

http://www.sadikhov.com/forum/ - This forum has people from all over the world contributing and it has a TON of posts on every different topic

http://techexams.net/forums/ - a pretty big IT forum with lots of posters.
